Quoting from /usr/share/doc/libtolua++5.1-dev/tolua++.html:

However, tolua++ does not actually define TOLUA_NIL, so
attempting to use it results in a compiler error.  Grepping
through the source tree shows the only occurrences of TOLUA_NIL
are in doc/tolua++.html.

I see the documentation actually says "tolua" rather than
"tolua++" at that point.  However, tolua 5.1.2-1 does not define
TOLUA_NIL either.
