Hi all, I had downloaded the latest debian stable (6.0.2.1) via jigdo. The image in question is a 4.4 GB iso image. /debian-6.0.2.1-jigdo$ ll -h total 4.5G -rw-r--r-- 1 shirish shirish 4.4G Jun 29 08:00 debian-6.0.2.1-amd64-DVD-1.iso -rw-r--r-- 1 shirish shirish 115K Jun 26 22:09 debian-6.0.2.1-amd64-DVD-1.jigdo -rw-r--r-- 1 shirish shirish 30M Jun 26 22:09 debian-6.0.2.1-amd64-DVD-1.template -rw-r--r-- 1 shirish shirish 16K Jun 29 02:25 jigdo-file-cache.db After getting the iso image (and verifying the md5sum/sha1sum) proceeded to use brasero to burn the image. Now while my DVD burner supports DVD writing till speeds of 8x, the DVD media pops out at 4x. So putting an empty DVD optical media in the DVD drive, choose the last option/dialog box Burn Image (Burn an existing CD/DVD image to disc) . Clicking on the image showed the image burning setup where it asks the path of the .iso image to be burnt and that there is a blank DVD. After the path is set, it immediately shrinks the available to DVD to 10 MB or so. Just next to it is a properties button on which one can set the burn speed. I had set the burn speed to 4x and still while burning it constantly was burning over that speed. Will put up screenshots to share the same. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.39-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_IN, LC_CTYPE=en_IN (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages brasero depends on: ii brasero-common 2.30.3-2 Common files for the Brasero CD bu ii gnome-icon-theme 3.0.0-3 GNOME Desktop icon theme ii gstreamer0.10-plugins-base 0.10.35-1 GStreamer plugins from the "base" ii gvfs 1.6.4-3 userspace virtual filesystem - ser ii libatk1.0-0 2.0.1-1 ATK accessibility toolkit ii libbrasero-media0 2.30.3-2 CD/DVD burning library for GNOME - ii libc6 2.13-7 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libcairo2 1.10.2-6 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-3 1.4.12-2 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.94-2 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libfontconfig1 2.8.0-3 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.4.4-2 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgconf2-4 2.32.4-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglib2.0-0 2.28.6-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgstreamer-plugins-base0. 0.10.35-1 GStreamer libraries from the "base ii libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.35-1 Core GStreamer libraries and eleme ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.4-3 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice6 2:1.0.7-2 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libnautilus-extension1 2.30.1-3 libraries for nautilus components ii libpango1.0-0 1.28.4-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libsm6 2:1.2.0-2 X11 Session Management library ii libtotem-plparser17 2.32.5-2 Totem Playlist Parser library - ru ii libtracker-client-0.8-0 0.8.18-1 metadata database, indexer and sea ii libunique-1.0-0 1.1.6-2 Library for writing single instanc ii libxml2 2.7.8.dfsg-3 GNOME XML library brasero recommends no packages.
