So the problem here is that fakeroot cannot be run within fakeroot
(see bug#409856).
In the interim, you can build with pbuilder/cowbuilder,
dpkg-buildpackage, debuild, or
debian/rules build fakeroot
To reproduce:
- have an up-to-date amd64 unstable
- apt-get source fakeroot
- cd fakeroot-1.16
- fakeroot debian/rules binary
