ok, thanks. it took something more than just creating a new profile (I have
had to copy the old one, delete the prefs.js from it, and reinstall a couple
addons which didn't seem to like the hard-reset)

yeah, i already saw that (but, anyway, thank you for pointing at it). the
point is, in the old profile, i have a ton of printer settings (don't know
why) that i have to skip (i don't think printer has something to do with
this). also, some settings are from the addons, which (i found) aren't
ok, since I also know nothing about XUL, i'll try disabling extensions one
by one, to see if at any point, that ram use falls to acceptable levels.
first try is ABP, since is the only common extension we (Leo and me) are
using.
the ram use looks stable at 720 Mb (lower than before, but not

Damn, think I spoke too soon. Took longer than usual, but eventually
memory usage spiked again. I'll keep testing with other plugins and post

Hi,
After a bit of testing, it seems Firebug is the culprit. This could be a
fluke, but since I've left Iceweasel open for a couple of hours the
results seem clear enough. Niky, was Firebug one of the plugins you had
enabled?
Unfortunately I'm not using the packaged version of Firebug, so I'm not

Dear Maintainer,
iceweasel (6.0) just eats almost all my 2 Gb of ram. i have tried the

ok, there are some results. i'll attach a screenshot, with about:memory plus

well... i have now opened iceweasel (7.0b2) in safe mode, and... now it uses
only about 124Mb (htop says). same tabs as before.
i'll copy the about:memory info:

i suppose this means that it's not iceweasel's fault, but an extension.
however, why does iceweasel 5.0 does not use so much ram, with the same
