Package: accountsservice
Version: 0.6.15-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
I run an LDAP enabled system. I use the pam-ldapd versions, rather than the
older pam-ldap versions. Network manager is installed and working well. The
system also runs systemd.

Sometimes (it's clearly a bit of a race condition) gdm won't allow me to login
to an LDAP account. Killing GDM doesn't help. getent passwd shows that the
nsswitch is working fine and loads the LDAP accounts. GDM login screens remain
frustratingly non-working however.

To fix the problem I have to kill the accountsservice/accounts-daemon process
that's running. I think GDM respawns it, but I'm not sure. However, it's clear
that accountsservice/accounts-daemon loaded prior to LDAP becoming available
because it beat the network in coming up.
It should probably be a bit smarter in how it works with pam/nss to resolve
users and authorization.

As a corollary if accountsservice beats the network and doesn't know the LDAP
users, GDM won't show them in the user list.
