The patch attached in this bugreport (i.e 654395) fix the segfault and
will be mark as done in next upload. We are facing FTBFS on debian archs
other than i386 and x86_64 (see bug

I just updated Blender to the new version. When starting Blender, it crashes
with a segmentation fault. Here is the backtrace:

I've reopened the bug because if you read the backtrace (and looked a
little bit in blender source code), it is clearly not FFMPEG related.

Yes, my closing of the bug was a reflex reaction to the presence of
the unofficial ffmpeg library packages, sorry
