Package: gdm3 Version: 3.0.4-4 Severity: minor Dear Maintainer,
on my system there is exactly one user allowed to login into X/gdm. This is the default when a new system is set up. The login procedure for this common case should be made easier: I have to select the single valid option (my username) and then enter the passwort. The option "others" that is offered as well doesn't have any use in the default config, since I can't login into X as a system user. It might be possible to login remotely into another system using this (not tested), but that's not the common use case. If there is only one valid user account for GDM login, GDM should ask for the password right away. Having to click/press enter in advance is bad usability. If necessary, things like remote sessions could be offered in the sessions menu that is available in the password dialog.
