Author asked [1] which locale are you using?
He rechecked that Russian language is not hardcoded as a default language.
On first launch spellchecker language is determined by your locale settings.
Also you may want to subscribe to bug-report in upstream and talk directly with
developer.

'yagf' defaults to the Russian language, and on a typical English
oriented system can't do OCR until the user changes the language. The
