I hit this bug while testing Wheezy Beta 4. I hope the patch makes in ASAP as this is a showstopper. The gnome desktop is virtually [pun intended] unusable until this is fixed in Debian. Strange to see such a critical bug this late in the freeze for stable. Currently using the workaround from
