Hi,

this may be not an openldap, but a rsyslog configuration problem. We
experienced this problem as well with other services (mainly mail
servers) logging to rsyslog via tcp syslog when the remote loghost was
not responding. To the bug reporter: Have you configured a (disk,
memory or combined) queue in rsyslog? As described in
http://www.rsyslog.com/doc/queues.html, this is the recommended setup
to deal with such outages. If no, this bug can probably be closed.
