Dear Debian folks, playing just one Ogg file in a loop, the second playback has the following two issues. 1. The first second is not played through the speakers. 2. After around 12 to 20 seconds although the time bar continues to advance forward, no sound is heard at all. Going forward or backward restores the sound. Going back until the beginning the sound will stop again after 12 to 20 seconds. This issue is reported upstream as #688837 [1] and cannot be reproduced with GStreamer plugins base 1.0.x and Totem 3.7 [2]. Though this does not rule out that the problem is with PulseAudio or Totem. But it is a strong indication that the problem lies in GStreamer. Unfortunately upstream wrote they will spend time on fixing this for 0.10.36+ [3]. There seem to be more problems with Ogg playback in GStreamer as reported in Debian bug #668109 [4]. Both bugs might be related.
