Here's what I got when calling git-import-orig:

Upstream version numbers must start with a digit and can only containg lower
case
letters (a-z), digits (0-9), full stops (.), plus signs (+), minus signs
(-), colons ( : ) and tildes ( ~ )
This too strict. Debian versions have the right to contain capital letters. Dpkg
accepts "-+:.0-9a-zA-Z~" in version strings. And the archive does contain
package
versions with capital letters:
$ dpkg-query -W bind9-host
bind9-host 1:9.8.4.dfsg.P1-6
Please relax that requirement.
