Ok, now I got it. It was too hard to specify which configuration you use or should I guess? You can see that you have a plenty variants to workaround this. Use NbOfLinesForCorruptedLog in awstats or adopt your apache log configuration to hide such messages. Thus, I'm not sure it's a bug. Lets see what upstream think off.
