Package: w3m
Version: 0.5.3-8
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

w3m works fine with URLs containing an IPv6 address of global
scope. However, when adding the interface specifier required for
link-local addresses, w3m completely mis-parses the URL. This is
apparent when using a proxy: w3m requests the URL "http://[fe80:0/";
from the proxy, rather than the entered URL
"http://[fe80::f2ad:4eff:fe00:6112%eth0]/";. Without a proxy, w3m
simply states that it can't load the URL without giving any reason.

The syntax for using IPv6 link-local addresses as part of URLs is
defined by RFC 6874 [1].

IPv6 link-local addresses are quite useful for interacting with
embedded devices. They require neither manual configuration (like
static IPv4 addresses do) nor additional equipment (like a DHCP server
for giving out IPv4 addresses).

Sascha
