Hi,
Using systemd, I have the following error when upgrading or removing
console-tools:
# LANG=C apt-get --purge autoremove console-tools
[…]
Removing console-tools ...
Failed to issue method call: Unit console-screen.sh.service not loaded.
invoke-rc.d: initscript console-screen.sh, action "stop" failed.
dpkg: error processing console-tools (--purge):
subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 5
update-rc.d: warning: start and stop actions are no longer supported;
falling back to defaults
Failed to issue method call: Unit console-screen.sh.service failed to
load: No such file or directory. See system logs and 'systemctl status
console-screen.sh.service' for details.
invoke-rc.d: initscript console-screen.sh, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error while cleaning up:
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 6
Errors were encountered while processing:
console-tools
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
And indeed:
# systemctl status console-screen.sh.service
console-screen.sh.service
Loaded: error (Reason: No such file or directory)
Active: inactive (dead)
The reason is that the name ends with .sh. It may be a failure of
systemd. However, the LSB comments says that this script provides
"console-screen", so that suggestion will introduce more consistency.
And currently, I will have to cheat to upgrade this package. Or even
remove it.
