Package: emacs23
Version: 23.4+1-4.1+b1
Severity: minor

On my system, I have the keyboard configured so that the menu key is a
compose (Multi_key). Emacs, however, does not recognize that. To reproduce:

* Run 'emacs -q'
* In the scratch buffer, type Menu-'-a. Expected output: รก. Actual output: 'a,
with an error message "<Multi_key> is undefined".

Here is the output of 'setxkbmap -query':
--------------------
rules: evdev
model: pc105
layout: us,us
variant: dvorak,
options: compose:menu,ctrl:nocaps
--------------------

Relevant information: my environment has 'XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM' in
it. Unsetting this environment variable before starting emacs makes
emacs work as expected. However, I did not set this environment
variable myself; it seems to have been a side-effect of installing the
'scim' package. In any case, I don't expect this environment variable
to affect normal keyboard operation when scim is in its
"English/Keyboard" mode.

Thanks!
