Package: python2.7
Version: 2.7.6-8
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

on my system that allows for 250000 open fds, a simple "apt-cache policy
iceweasel" takes several seconds, spending 99% of the time looping through all
250000 fds. Lowering the limit for open fds to the default of 1000 helps, but
the full process is still 10x slower on debian sid than it is on debian stable,
where the reported bug does not exist.

Please see http://bugs.python.org/issue8052 for full upstream bug report and
possible fixes. Issue has been fixed in python3.x upstream, but since debian
still uses 2.7 you probably need to patch this manually.
