* What led up to the situation? After installation, on Dell Inspiron 1501, after grub booting on the linux kernel the screen goes garbled and resume working after 10 minutes * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? The only workaround was to put the following three lines in /etc/rc.local: vbetool dpms off sleep 1 vbetool dpms on * What was the outcome of this action? After a few seconds, instead of waiting 10 minutes, the screen appeared normal * What outcome did you expect instead? I will expect to get a normal screen just after grub booting -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.4 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
