I have this problem too, not every boot, but some 1 in 2-3 boots. Home
partition times out.
Just plain ext4 on LVM, no encryption.
From the log:
systemd[1]: Job dev-mapper-mf4sys\x2dhome.device/start timed out.
systemd[1]: Timed out waiting for device dev-mapper-mf4sys\x2dhome.device.
I have a similar problem here.
This is a new sid install from about a month ago after a crash of my disk
holding / but reusing a LVM (over md soft. raid1) from the previous install
for the other disks.
It worked for a week or 2 then stopped.
On boot, I now get an emergency shell asking for
Package: systemd
Version: 208-8
Severity: normal

after removing the quiet kernel boot option, I see the following
message before I'm dropped into emergency mode:
[ TIME ] Timed out waiting for device dev-mapper-volumegroup/x2dhome.device.
[DEPEND] Dependency failed for /home
[DEPEND]

sorry, I should've mentioned that initially. It's LUKS/cryptsetup with the LVM
inside it.
