I can also reproduce this on Ubuntu 14.10, which has a more recent libglib version. The symptoms look very similar. I also sometimes have all the text in an application disappear. Usually switching desktops away and back will fix it.
So far I've only been able to reproduce it with Chrome running - otherwise it doesn't seem to occur. Boris, do you use Chrome? Cheers, Michael
