lol, I understand that it exists in libpurple... but where in the official aim client (historical or latest official version) does it allow the user to set these as a status? is the protocol totally reverse engineered or is there some official publication where it defines these mappings? On

Yes, the latest official ICQ clients let you set those statuses. Everything about the protocol plugin is reverse-engineered.
