That is very well.
However it still doesn't narrow down how the user can influence what
browser is chosen.
After searching the web, I removed my entire ~/.local,
and was still not able to influence what browser it chose.
If you know how to influence what browser it chooses, please document it

Then how exactly is that computed?

Non of /etc/alternatives point to the browser it ends up using.
