This might be related to the following entry in the upstream changelog: * Fixed #1850 - detection issues with tweetnacl/libsodium. This looks like an (intentionally or unintentionally) changed default upstream, configuring with --with-libsodium seems to do the right thing. I do not know which of tweetnacl/libsodium is better, but a change that seems to have happened only by accident should be double-checked and either libsodium used again or the build dependency dropped.
