Back in 2016, in https://bugs.debian.org/840642, i wrote:

I believe all of this cleanup has been done, and only officially
upstream-supported versions of gpgme are in debian (a few copies remain
in oldstable, but that's on its way out). So I'm closing this report,
as it has served its purpose.
Thanks to all the developers and maintainers who helped make this
happen.
