Is this patch OK, or should I clean it up some more?
I would love to have it included in lintian soon, to make more people
aware of the problem with device access in Stretch before the complete
freeze.

Here are a new set of patches rebased on the current master branch. The
tag description in the last patch is slightly modified based on feedback
from the appstream maintainer.
Is there any hope this change can land in unstable early enough for the
package maintainers to react to the checks before
Niels suggested to me on IRC to move the test deb from t/debs/ to
t/tests/ and split it in two, one for the udev and one for the appstream
check. In the process of doing this I discovered bugs in the udev
check, so this proved very valuable. Here is a set of updated patches.

Attached is my proposal for a lintian check for AppStream metadata and the
udev rules, including a test case.
Compared to the github repo, I dropped a few tests that need more work. I
will come back to those when I have learned more from the AppStream maintainer
