Package: virt-manager Version: 1:1.4.0-5 Severity: important
I installed virt-manager / libvirt / KVM for the first time on a stretch system using the commands: apt-get install libvirt-doc virt-manager libvirt-clients virtinst virt-top downloaded the stretch ISO file debian-stretch-DI-rc2-amd64-netinst.iso and tried to make a VM running on the local machine. In the wizard, I selected 2 CPUs and I clicked the "Copy host CPU configuration" checkbox to try and get around another error (see bug #857832). When I clicked to create the VM, a popup appeared with the error "could not access kvm kernel module permission denied" I came across this bug report: https://github.com/voidlinux/void-packages/issues/1095 and tried adding myself to the group kvm, that didn't help so I removed myself from the group again. Then I tried the solution at the bottom of the bug report: rmmod kvm_intel rmmod kvm modprobe kvm modprobe kvm_intel and the clicked to create the VM and it worked.
