hmm, this is strange. According to the build logs[1] the shared libs of
this package are already build

the linker error suggests to compile your software with -fPIC. Did you try
to do this?

a software I currently develop doesn't compile anymore after upgrading from
jessie to stretch.
Here's my compiler output
