Package: blktrace Version: 1.1.0-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
blktrace depends on lsb-base, for no good reason I can see. The init script uses LSB conventions for labelling when it should be started, but that's not a reason to pull in lsb-base. The problem with depending on lsb-base is that it pulls in approximately 500 megs of shared libaries and other packages, none of which are needed for the correct functioning of the binaries provided by the blktrace package. Please remove lsb-base as a dependency. If there are specific libraries which are needed, they should be enumerated explicitly as a dependency. The only packages that should be using lsb-base as a dependency are third-party packages that don't want to depend on the package names used by a particular distribution. But for Debian native packages, such as blktrace, they really shouldn't be depending on lsb-base as this will cause unnecessary software packages to be installed. -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (650, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable-debug'), (600, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing-debug'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.13.0-rc3 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages blktrace depends on: ii libaio1 0.3.110-3 ii libc6 2.24-12 ii lsb-base 9.20161125 ii python 2.7.13-2 Versions of packages blktrace recommends: ii libav-tools 7:3.3.3-1 ii librsvg2-bin 2.40.18-1 ii libtheora-bin 1.1.1+dfsg.1-14+b1 Versions of packages blktrace suggests: pn gnuplot-x11 <none> -- no debconf information
