Dear Maintainer,

To start the lirc service lircd with the option 'nodaemon' in /etc/lirc/lirc_options.conf I had to remove the option --nodaemon from /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/lircd.service
Why is this option set in a file that starts a service (daemon)?

When this option is removed the 'nodaemon' option in /etc/lirc/lirc_options.conf has to be set to 'True' to start lircd
Shouldn't that be 'False'?

First of all, the lirc package does not ship any files in /etc/systemd - these are by definition custom-maintained files.

Secondly, the --nodaemon *is* indeed used in /lib/system/system/lircd.service since this is a simple service. Refer to the systemd docs for an explanation.

Note that any setting in /etc/systemd will overrule corresponding setting in /lib/systemd. Again, check the systemd docs.

I'm leaning to closing this as not-a-bug. Please raise these kind of concerns which are more like support issues on the upstream mailing list at http://sf.net/p/lirc.

Cheers!
