This problem is XIM only and easily avoided by installing ibus-gtk3. -- I'm lowering severity of the XIM related ibus bugs. I'm also adding wontfix tag when a clear workaround exists (e.g. installing ibus-gtk3 for GTK apps). One reason is that the upstream doesn't consider XIM related issues as open bugs. I agree with the upstream; the protocol is ancient and limited, the protocol spec is vague and client implementations are often buggy. While we can't drop XIM as some clients (e.g. Java) do not support other IM, I think most of the XIM bugs are not very worth to fix.
