That's a good point. nullmailer does not have logging

I have extracted /etc/init.d/nullmailer from version 1:1.13-1.2, and
called:
# invoke-rc.d nullmailer start
It works:
# ps ax | grep nullmailer
24301 ?S 0:00 /usr/sbin/nullmailer-send -s
# cat
