Upstream seems dead, and this is really a Debian specific package, so I'm posting a feature request (actually implementation) that I already sent upstream [1]. The referenced PR handles request errors more gracefully (than simply crashing), and allows the user to pass arbitrary supported tags to the Debian BTS SOAP search interface.
