Dear Maintainer,
Package openjdk-8-jre has Provides:
java2-runtime, java5-runtime, java6-runtime, java7-runtime,
java8-runtime
It is missing "java-runtime". As result, some other packages that
depend on java-runtime will force installation of JRE 7 (too old)
or JRE 10 (too new, some tools still do not support it) and having JRE
8 will not satisfy their dependencies.
Other JRE versions in debian have "java-runtime" in their Provides:.
Package openjdk-7-jre Provides:
java-runtime, java2-runtime, java5-runtime, java6-runtime,
java7-runtime
Package openjdk-10-jre Provides:
java-runtime, java10-runtime, java2-runtime, java5-runtime,
java6-runtime, java7-runtime, java8-runtime, java9-runtime
Please add java-runtime to "Provides" section in the control file.
Equivalent ..-jdk packages do not suffer from this problem (JDK 7,8 and
10 provide "java-jdk")
