The ‘uscan(1)’ manual page describes the environment variable ‘USCAN_SYMLINK’, 
giving examples of values accepted::

    USCAN_SYMLINK
    […] If it is set to `yes` or `symlink`, then the symlinks will be made. […]

The ‘uscan’ program evidently does not support that. When setting 
‘USCAN_SYMLINK=symlink’ the following error occurs::

    $ USCAN_SYMLINK=symlink uscan
    Argument "symlink" isn't numeric in numeric eq (==) at 
/usr/share/perl5/Devscripts/Uscan/Config.pm line 183.

The error indicates some Perl module is attempting to parse the text value 
“symlink” as a number.

Instead, the program should accept all the values specified for the 
‘USCAN_SYMLINK’ variable and behave with the corresponding semantics.
