I have added "libhunspell-dev" to the Build-Depends list as wangqr
suggested and I have also applied the patch you provided. It doesn't
seem to crash anymore.
I will file a bug to upload the new fixed version to Buster. This bug
will close automatically after the upload.

I have to agree with wangqr.
It seems that the problem may be the lack of hunspell-dev.
I was able to rebuild the alex-p's PPA package.
It no longer crashes when pressing the Menu key.

Looks like the crashing Aegisub has been build without hunspell (it is
not in the depends list). It will crash due to using a NULL pointer to
the non-existent spell checker. See

We have a very similar bug in Debian 9.
I believe that its source is the same as in Debian 10.
In Debian 9, Aegisub doesn't crash immediately after opening the context menu.
However, it will crash after selecting a language from

I hit a similar problem in another distribution. I believe that this is related
to the spell checking code (list available languages).
The same error occurs in Ubuntu 19.04. It should be mention that this bug
doesn't affect Aegisub in
