It should be noted that that github issue identifies an upstream bug with patch
that seems it
for now the only workaround is to download the binary firefox
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/71.0/linux-x86_64/en-US/firefox-71.0.tar.bz2
and run it with
MOZ_ALLOW_DOWNGRADE=1 ./firefox -P default
Besides nearly every extension breaking (all for me, in fact), some
websites are also broken. For example, Riot (the Matrix client) also
fails entirely, making unusable:

I increased the severity to important as it seems (almost) all extensions are
broken. Privacybadger made explicit that there was an error, but other may
fail silently. I don't see an error

I can confirm this issue.

Dear Maintainer,
since upgrading to version 71 most of my addons don't work anymore. E.g.
privacy badger shows "An unexpected error occurred" on every page. See upstream
