Ever since a recent upgrade I see the following messages in syslog every time I open/close a new xterm or GNU screen tab: Dec 4 17:29:15 tglase-nb utempter: utmp/wtmp record removed for terminal 'pts/18' Dec 4 17:29:19 tglase-nb utempter: utmp/wtmp record added for terminal 'pts/17' These are a bit loud, aren’t they?
