Package: dbus Version: 1.12.20-0+deb10u1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? Configuring an IR remote control (for MythTV) and noticing some keys don't work. Example: the "play" button, which is mapped via a keymap file from KEY_PLAY to KEY_P (ie, the keyboard 'p' charcter). Other keys (eg, KEY_OK mapped to KEY_ENTER, or KEY_UP, not remapped) work OK. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? After much experimentation, I found that restarting dbus ("systemctl restart dbus") fixed the problem. It is a consistent fix: those keys always fail before restarting dbus, and never fail after restarting dbus. My workaround: add "systemctl restart dbus" to the end of /etc/rc.local. Hypothesis: the systemd startup order/dependencies may be incorrect, but I don't know enough about it to know whether that's likely. -- System Information: Debian Release: 10.7 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.19.0-13-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_GB:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages dbus depends on: ii adduser 3.118 ii libapparmor1 2.13.2-10 ii libaudit1 1:2.8.4-3 ii libc6 2.28-10 ii libcap-ng0 0.7.9-2 ii libdbus-1-3 1.12.20-0+deb10u1 ii libexpat1 2.2.6-2+deb10u1 ii libselinux1 2.8-1+b1 ii libsystemd0 241-7~deb10u5 dbus recommends no packages.
