Dear Maintainer,
The adduser(8) manual page says this:
The home directory's set-group-ID bit is set if USERGROUPS is
yes so that any files created in the user's home directory
will have the correct group.
This is not true (any more)!
Possibly useful info is found in the comments of SETGID_HOME in
/etc/adduser.conf :
# If SETGID_HOME is "yes" home directories for users with their own
# group the setgid bit will be set. This was the default for
# versions << 3.13 of adduser. Because it has some bad side effects we
# no longer do this per default. If you want it nevertheless you can
# still set it here.
SETGID_HOME=no
Please drop the outdated documentation about setgid home directories
from the manual page.
