Bug#515184: pkpgcounter failes to read PJL-wrapped postscript

I have little hope to get them change their .ppd, especially as it does the job (provide printing). Of course. As an alternative just create a new ticket on http://trac.pykota.com, and I'll try to add some filtering facility to pkpgcounter. I’d do that, but http://trac.pykota.com/register does not seem to work... It should work, but there's probably some caching issue between your web browser and the server. Bug#516889: gettext: syntax error if comments are reordered
Package: gettext Version: 0.17-4 Hi, I noticed that msgmerge is very picky about the order of comments in PO files. $ cat test.po msgid msgstr Project-Id-Version: test\n PO-Revision-Date: 2009-02-23 23:21+0100\n Last-Translator: j...@localhost\n Language-Team: German j...@localhost\n MIME-Version: 1.0\n Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8\n Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n #| msgid File not found :-) #: test.cc:1 #, c-format msgid File not found msgstr Datei nicht gefunden $ msgfmt -cv test.po test.po:13:1: syntax error msgfmt: found 1 fatal error Reordering the comments to #: test.cc:1 #, c-format #| msgid File not found :-) fixes this problem. You may ask why I used a PO file with such an ordering, right? The reason is that I have also access to gettext version 0.15 (doesn't support --previous option of msgmerge) and with this version I get: $ sed 's/test.cc:1/test.cc:2/' test.po test-new.po $ msgmerge -U test-new.po test.po Comments look now: # | msgid File not found :-) #: test.cc:1 #, c-format I now substituted # | by #| because I don't want to commit a PO file with unwanted # | comments and get an invalid file ... Nevertheless gettext 0.15 doesn't report errors so I committed a bogus file. PS: Just in case you wonder why I call msgmerge to update a file against itself: I found that this improves line breaks (the result of msgmerge and xgettext is very different in this regard!!) and leads to smaller diffs for version control systems. This is probably worth a separate bug report. Jens -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#515531: svn-buildpackage: --svn-tag adding the URLs to the .../.svn/deb-layout to skip the check later but file doesn't exist (should create it)

On Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 02:31, Eddy Petrișor eddy.petri...@gmail.com wrote: Sandro Tosi a scris: I: adding the URLs to the //.svn/deb-layout to skip the check later. Actually, t shouldn't. The message should be removed because since 0.6.22 svn-buildpackage no longer uses that file as a broken cache (see 0.6.22 changelog entry). Instead that file is left as a possible local and non-versioned override for the user to use, if necessary. I read that changelog entry and I'm confused about what to do :) Should I use --svn-savecfg to let svn-bp save the configuration, if needed? is put that option in ~/.svn-buildpackage.conf encouraged or not? If you really need to, you can save your configuration, but that configuration will *override* anything else set in the repo (e.g. if another memeber of the packaging team does some changes, you will not see them). Since the layout of the package shouldn't change, you'd probably prefer to use svn properties to store that information. OTOH, that layout detection is indeed slow and needs improvement, as suggested in #515531. Unfortunately, I find myself having less and less time for svn-buildpackage, so I don't know when those changes will happen. -- Regards, EddyP = Imagination is more important than knowledge A.Einstein signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

In these pages, you will find information about the current status, currently known problems, information for and about Debian porters, and pointers to more information. h2 id=statusCurrent Status/h2 p Debian SPARC is officially released and known to be stable. Supported are Sun4m and Sun4u machines (with a 32-bit userland). See the a href=../../releases/stable/sparc/Install Manual/a for information on supported systems, hardware, and how to install Debian. h2 id=sparc64bitAbout 64-bit SPARC support/h2 p The Debian SPARC port, as mentioned above, does support the sun4u (ldquo;Ultrardquo;) architecture. It uses a 64-bit kernel (compiled with gcc 3.3 or newer), but most of the applications run in 32-bit. This is also called a ldquo;32-bit userlandrdquo;. p The Debian SPARC 64 (a.k.a., ldquo;UltraLinuxrdquo;) porting effort is not currently conceived as a full porting effort like other ports. Rather, it is intended to be an emadd-on/em to the SPARC Port. p In fact, there is really no point in having all applications running in 64-bit mode. Full 64-bit mode involves a significant overhead (memory and disk size) with often no benefit. Some applications really can benefit from being in 64-bit mode, and that is the purpose of this porting effort. h3 id=kernelsun4uCompiling kernels for sun4u/h3 p To compile a Linux kernel for Sun4u, you'll need to use the Linux 2.2 or newer source tree. p We highly suggest you also use the ttkernel-package/tt package to help with the installation and management of kernels. You can compile a configured kernel in one command (as root): pre make-kpkg --subarch=sun4u --arch_in_name --revision=custom.1 kernel_image /pre h2 id=errataErrata/h2 p Some of the common problems with fixes or workarounds can be found on our a href=problemsErrata page/a. h2 id=whoWho are we? I don't want to match it on random Closes: in the commit body. You can have the full commit body with --full which gives you the closes in the commit message then. Bug#516895: gettext: wrong parameter handling?
Package: gettext Version: 0.17 Severity: minor Hi, I have the following C++ source file: $ cat test.cc #include iostream #define _(text) text int main() { std::cout _(Hi, this is a string) \n; return 0; } The paramater handling of option -k causes some problems for me: According to xgettext --help: -k, --keyword[=WORD]additional keyword to be looked for (without WORD means not to use default keywords) $ xgettext -k=_ -o test.po test.cc; cat test.po cat: test.po: No such file or directory Using $ xgettext --keyword=_ -o test.po test.cc a proper PO file is created as _ is recognized as keyword. Now I wonder, does the short option -k accept parameters or not? If not shouldn't it complain about =_? I also tried $ xgettext -k _ -o test.po test.cc; cat test.po xgettext: xgettext cannot work without keywords to look for I haven't looked at the source but I think GNU command line parsing supports also options to short params. It also shows that the NUMoldstyle glyphs were removed in between 1.00-3 and 1.010x-5, while the NUM.oldstyle glyphs are there in both versions. So my problem has to have its origins in some other place. I doubt that it is gucharmap, since the problem also affects openoffice and inkscape: When I try to insert oldstyle figures into an openoffice text via Insert - Special Character and select the LMTypewriter10 font, oldstyle figures are not in the table of glyphs I can select from. If I insert oldstyle figures using another font (e.g. Iwona) and afterwards try to change the font of the inserted characters to LMTypewriter10, the Iwona oldstyle figures are not replaced by LMTypewriter glyphs; they stay Iwona glyphs (they become a bit smaller though). Similarly, if I copy some text containing oldstyle glyphs into an inkscape document (using the Iwona font) and try to convert the font to LMTypewriter10, the oldstyle figures are replaced by glyphs of yet another font (could be Verdana). With the 1.00-3 package of lmodern, the usage of oldstyle glyphs within openoffice and inkscape is no problem. Is there anything else I can do in order to find out where exactly the problem is? Bug#516901: pycha: FTBFS with python-support in experimental

I suggest to launch the unit tests before the call to dh_pysupport. As there doesn’t seem to be a compelling reason to launch them using the installed modules, you can just launch them from the sources directory and the result will be the same. Bug#516903: pyroman: generates incorrect package with python-support from experimental
Package: pyroman Version: 0.4.6-1 Hi, the pyroman rules file contains the following: install/pyroman:: dh_pysupport This is a problem since dh_pysupport is run before the files are actually installed to /usr/share/python-support/pyroman, which is done by dh_install in the binary-install target. Currently this works since dh_pysupport takes into account the empty directory in /usr/share/python-support. However, with the upcoming version of python-support (currently in experimental), this will fail, since it expects to find files there so that they can be listed and moved to /usr/share/pyshared. Bug#499529: bluez 4.x status update
also sprach Tyson Whitehead twhiteh...@gmail.com [2009.02.23.2236 +0100]: Excellent. I assume the updated packages work for you now? No. :( I am putting the bug report back into Cc. I don't think you are alone at all in your dislike of dbus. In fact, I can't really claim to understand what difference netdev made in this case, based on bluetooth.conf. I too am in the netdev group on my machine. That was with 3.x packages, where the dbus configuration also gave members of the netdev group permission to send those messages, so once I added myself into that group, it worked. http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-bluetooth/packages/bluez-utils/trunk/debian/bluetooth-dbus.conf?op=filerev=0sc=0 Unfortunately, your 4.x packages install a dbus policy file that only relies on at_console, but there is no dependency or recommendation for libpam-foreground, which seems to be required for that to work. Right now, I can start bluetooth-applet, but when I connect a device, the applet prints to stderr: Agent registration failed: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type=method_call, sender=:1.104 (uid=1000 pid=23264 comm=bluetooth-applet ) interface=org.bluez.Adapter member=RegisterAgent error name=(unset) requested_reply=0 destination=org.bluez (uid=0 pid=21493 comm=/usr/sbin/bluetoothd)) Indeed, installing libpam-foreground and adding session requiredpam_foreground.so before pam_unix in /etc/pam.d/common-session, and logging in and out on tty1 does make things work. Unfortunately, that's not an acceptable migration path, nor do I know a migration path that does not involve the use reconfiguring PAM, which is really not good. Maybe ConsoleKit is possible, but that's a heavy dependency -- I for one do not appreciate all this newfangled permissions stuff (with capital letters of all things!!!) just to be able to use bluetooth. Also, I might want to use bluetooth on headless machines and thus without software written over at freedesktop.org. Instead, I suggest to investigate migrating the existing policy (or at least the underlying concepts) and grant members of netdev the rights to talk to bluetoothd. Why it's the netdev group, I don't know. Bug#516910: installation-reports: lenny multi-arch installer sets incorrect release
Package: installation-reports Severity: important I'll be skipping the Package-Specific Info section because this bug is being filed from my laptop and not the server where the issue was seen. I used the official Lenny Multi-arch netinst cd image and booted. Installation went fine and just then I noticed that the installer configures apt with the etch release. This then further breaks everything. It downgrades a bunch of packages, removes rsyslogd (it wasn't the default in etch), and then ultimately fails with some dependency. I had to manually chroot and change the release to lenny and then things went okay. This is a major bug in the installer. If you agree, please increase the severity. Also, by specifying the --override-config option, it is possible to install a new apt-line using the given options and settings in the configuration file for the base.tgz. For example, to switch the distribution of an existing base.tgz to lenny, specify the --distribution lenny --override-config options to update. and --othermirror [deb http://xxx/xxx/ ./ | other deb lines... ] The lines which is added to the sources.list, delimited with | Like deb http://local/mirror stable main|deb file:/usr/local/mirror ./ The deb lines here are the ones that will appear at the top of the sources.list inside the chroot. Be sure to follow the syntax rules of sources.list(5). These lines appear at the beginning of the constructed sources file, so this is the place to list your local mirror sites; apt will then use them in preference to the ones listed in --mirror . --distribution [distribution] Specifies the distribution used. Currently the supported values are sid etch lenny and experimental . --components [components] Specifies the default distribution components to use. eg. main contrib non-free. Default is main. --override-config Specify to use different apt set up inside the chroot than it was used for creating the base.tgz. Specify this when you want to do pbuilder --update with a different distribution target set up. --distribution , --components , --mirror , --othermirror options are only valid when --override-config option is specified in --update target, or when pbuilder --create is being called. Bug#512934: installation-reports: no sound at all; worked in Etch, works with Knoppix
Hi, | My only problem, but a very significant one, is that I have absolutely no | sound. | [...] | My sound card is a very common (and oldish) SoundBlaster PCI 128. | The correct kernel driver, snd_ens1371, is loaded (lsmod | grep snd). | Sound does not work either when I select (via ~/.asoundrc) the | motherboard's sound card. | | I've read another report (#516866) where rerunning alsaconf resolved the | issue for the reporter. It would be interesting to know whether that | also helps you. I had not tried running alsaconf by hand before. alsaconf finds three cards: hda-intel nVidia Corporation MCP65 High Definition Audio (rev a1) ens1371 Ensoniq 5880 AudioPCI (rev 02) legacy Probe legacy ISA (non-PnP) chips I don't know whether the legacy line is normal. At the end it fails with: amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such device It doesn't actually say it failed, since right afterward I see Now ALSA is ready to use. 'amixer' is supposed to adjust the volume I think. I tried googling on the error message but no success either. Bug#516885: libavformat52: Videos have a green tint
Apelete Seketeli apel...@seketeli.org writes: On Tue, Feb 24, 2009 at 11:01, Reinhard Tartler siret...@tauware.de wrote: What player is that? I'm using Totem to play videos on my up-to-date Sid box. Did you also make sure that your player actually links against that library? NB: there has been an SONAME bump in libavcodec Is it something I should manually check ? The problem just appeared after the last update to libavformat52... yes, but this depends. are you using totem-xine or totem-gstreamer? if totem-xine, does this appear with e.g. gxine as well? if totem-gstreamer, please try other gstreamer applications as well. can you reproduce with using 'ffplay' from the ffmpeg package? also, please attach an example file, not only a screen shot. I installed ffmpeg and tried to play a file using ffplay. I noticed two things: - the bug is not showing with ffplay: the videos play fine, so this is (most probably) not a bug in libavcodec52. - with Totem the bug only affect videos encoded with H.264. Regular divx files play just fine. interesting. can you perhaps try other media players as well? This might help to reassign this bug to the correct package. I couldn't find an H.264 encoded file small enough to attach it here, but here's a link to such a file you can test with Totem (I was able to reproduce the bug opening this link in Totem): http://movies.apple.com/movies/mgm/valkyrie/valkyrie-1st5m_h.480.mov Hope this help. sorry, no. that link contains a text file with the following content: cat valkyrie-1st5m_h.480.mov SmoovKrmraCrmda+rdrfurl valkyrie-1st5m_h480.mov what am I supposed to do with that? -- Gruesse/greetings, Reinhard Tartler, KeyID 945348A4 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
