So can you comment these bugs (only for cabextract):

#451698 - 5 minutes to fix; no reply
#393828 - did you actually forward it upstream? where is the 'forwarded' tag?

 This bug is completely inappropriate.

if you *really* think that, close it with an upload. Else, what you do
is only talking, and we need packages in good shape.

Checking the version:
  $ /usr/bin/rdiff-backup -V

I copied the arm-version of the sheevaplug over /usr/bin/rdiff-backup on the

   $ /usr/bin/rdiff-backup -V
   rdiff-backup 1.2.8

Bug#542430: [vim] vim try to expand files or directories that contain ~ (when using tcsh shell)

This looks good to me. I'll forward it upstream and see what he thinks.
 Thanks for the patch. :)

Looking into this further, this isn't actually a problem with using tcsh
or the expansion of '~'. The problem is what that Vim isn't properly
detecting which shell you're using because you've set 'shell' to
/bin/tcsh -f instead of simply /bin/tcsh.

In src/os_unix.c

5354 else if ((len = STRLEN(p_sh)) = 3)
5355 {
5356 if (STRCMP(p_sh + len - 3, csh) == 0)
5357 shell_style = STYLE_GLOB;

Vim checks whether the last 3 characters of 'shell' are csh. Since
that fails with your setting, Vim then uses an sh-compatible method for
expansion. This obviously fails with tcsh.

So, the simple workaround for now is to simply set shell=/bin/tcsh.
I'll send this information to Bram so he knows about it.

Bug#554205: java-gcj-compat-dev: usr-share-doc-symlink-without-dependency java-gcj-compat-headless

2009-11-03 Thread Manoj Srivastava
Package: java-gcj-compat-dev
Version: 1.0.80-5.1
Severity: serious
User: lintian-ma...@debian.org
Usertags: usr-share-doc-symlink-without-dependency

If the package installs a symbolic link /usr/share/doc/pkg1 - pkg2,
then pkg1 has to depend on pkg2 with the same version as pkg1.

Note, that adding the Depends: entry just to fix this bug is not a
good solution. It's suggested that you include a real
/usr/share/doc/pkg1 directory within pkg1 and copy the copyright file
into that directory. If the packages do not share source code, then
pkg1 should have its own copyright file (since the authors of pkg2 are
not to blame for pkg1). This bit covers meta packages as well.

Refer to Debian Policy Manual section 12.5 (Copyright information) for
details.

,[ 12.5 Copyright information ]
| Every package must be accompanied by a verbatim copy of its copyright
| and distribution license in the file
| /usr/share/doc/package/copyright. This file must neither be compressed
| nor be a symbolic link. `
| ...
| /usr/share/doc/package may be a symbolic link to another directory in
| /usr/share/doc only if the two packages both come from the same source
| and the first package Depends on the second. These rules are important
| because copyrights must be extractable by mechanical means.
`

This is a bug filed due to a lintian warning (see above). However,
this has also been checked manually, and thus there should be no false
positives.

Filed as serious since it is a violation of a must directive in
policy, and also since a package with these flaws will
currently get this package rejected. See
  http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2009/10/msg4.html
for details. This means the package has been deemed too buggy to be in
Debian.

As such, I'd like to propose the addition of a virtual package
name, network-config-tool, that would be used for any package
which provides /sbin/ifup and /sbin/ifdown binaries.

You'll need to be a lot more specific on the interface definition.
Do they have to be binaries? Do they have to take the same flags,
e.g. --force and --all?

What about /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/network/if-*.d/*?
Especially the hooks are integral to a lot of other packages that
depend on ifupdown. I'd say that's part of any Debian
network-config-tool interface.

Bug#554338: cheese crashed soonafter starting it Severity: important

2009-11-03 Thread Dirk linnerkamp
Package: cheese
Version: 2.22.3-3

Dear bug team,

after starting Cheese from the panel my web-cam gives sign, that it is working
(LED-controll-lamp is blinking) and the cheese-window opens just as if it
would start correctly but a few seconds later it completely crashed. This
happens as often as i try to start it again. Starting cheese from a shell, i get
the following output:

The program 'cheese' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'

Best wishes

Dirk Linnerkamp

Trafire Hello, Upstream has released 1.7.

Trafire Please consider update it. :-)

I should. I've done most of the work in my git repository already.
It's not been the highest priority mainly because there are no code
changes between the last beta and the current code. However there are
a few upstream fixes on the release branch that it would be strongly
desirable to get into Debian.

Hi,

jags can not build on sh4. Because configure of this package generated

Old autoconf adds -little option to compile option. sh4 architecture can't
interpret this option. Therefore, this has build error.

We need patch revising this.
I added patch to revising these. Package building was fine.

According to the changelogs this bug has been fixed in 3.2.0-2, which
has unfortunately not entered testing yet

Please close the ticket accordingly, as I suspect this will prevent a
newer (fixed) version from being migrated to testing.

*** Please type your report below this line ***

Hello,

accordingly to what found in the system-config-printer-kde bug reports I
upgraded python-kde4 (and python-qt4-dbus) from unstable in the attempt to
have a usable printer configuration in KDE4.

However when accessing the Printer Configuration panel from System Setting the
error message reported by Wolfgang Schnitker is still present.

Also, when clicking on the Printer Configuration icon in the System Settings
and error window pops up saying: The password may be incorrect, or the server
may be configured to deny remote administration; then the No KCModule Bug is
shown in the main window.

Since the printer configuration is an essential module, I hope that this bug
will be solved as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Bug#554204: libuim6: usr-share-doc-symlink-without-dependency uim-common

2009-11-03 Thread Manoj Srivastava
Package: libuim6
Version: 1:1.5.6-1

This means the package has been deemed too buggy to be in
Debian.

Almost complete rewrite.

 I find it quite useful.
When you have something wrong configured it can help you figure it out.
 See i.e. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=444262

This is the first case I've seen that really shows a usage for -v. All output
done by -v is also done by one other option so the only difference seems to be
that -v also outputs some data if the return code is not equal 0.

In eglibc 2.10, getline is always defined (since it became a standard in
POSIX2008). The problem is that your package already has a function
named getline(), which now conflicts with glibc's. You need to rename
 your function to something else.

This problem will be fixed in release 2.0.8 that should be available in
a week. I'm waiting for it since it also fix some other warnings.

Bug#432608: #432608 fxload fails to read hex file when verbose level is too high

Hi and thanks again for your fixes,

When using the -vvv option to increase verbosity of fxload,
the lines read in from the hex file are modified in such a way

I'm working on upgrading the package to a newer version:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/linux-hotplug/files/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/linux-hotplug/files/fxload/2008_10_13/fxload-2008_10_13.tar.gz/download

It seems that in that version the code you patched away still exists. It
is even used by default, and not only for debug level = 3.

Can you provide a debug level 3 output from such a firmware file and the
firmware file itself? (be it a mock one)? The same 'Line:' debug print
should print the current line in buf.

Bug#554162: fail2ban: sometimes(frequently) fails to load iptable rules with multiple jails

2009-11-03 Thread Libor Klepáč
Hi,
there seems to be some problem with sequence of commands run from python.
Maybe our server is too powerfull? (poweredge 2950 with two 4 core processors,
old server was some old pentium4 with ht, there were no such problems)

If i run those commands separately from command line ,there is no problem.

But if whole (multiline) actionstart is run, there seems to be problem with
order of commands.
Problem is, that
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp -m multiport --dports ftp,ftp-data,ftps,ftps-data -j
fail2ban-proftpd
is run in time, when there is no such chain, so kernel tries to autoload
module for it (but there is no such module) (you can try it by running this
command)

You get this
iptables v1.4.4: Couldn't load target `fail2ban-
proftpd':/lib/xtables/libipt_fail2ban-proftpd.so: cannot open shared object
file: No such file or directory

Patch from sf explodes actionstart by newline and launches each line
separately (maybe with some locking? I can't read python)

With regards
Libor

brr... are you sure you just have some problem with iptables? what if
whenever there is no fail2ban running you run those commands while being

 iptables -A fail2ban-proftpd -j RETURN
 iptables -I INPUT -p tcp -m multiport --dports ftp,ftp-data,ftps,ftps-data

will you get at some point that

Bug#432607: #432607: fxload could ignore unknown record types

But in many other cases this may hide a badly-formatted file. Not to
mention that for many uses ignoring those other address types is plain
wrong.

Add an extra command-line switch for than? What should be the default?

I am currently preparing the package. But here you will find everything
you need:

Vcs-Browser: http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-fglrx/fglrx-driver/trunk
Vcs-Svn: svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-fglrx/fglrx-driver/trunk

There is the tarball (use the fglrx_driver-9.10.orig.tar.gz) and
everything else is in trunk.

Bug#554199: gcompris-dbg: usr-share-doc-symlink-without-dependency gcompris-data (not gcompris)

2009-11-03 Thread Manoj Srivastava
Package: gcompris-dbg
Version: 8.4.12-1
Severity: serious
User: lintian-ma...@debian.org
Usertags: usr-share-doc-symlink-without-dependency

Either the versioned dependency has to be on gcompris-data, or the
symbolic link should point to gcompris.

This means the package has been deemed too buggy to be in
Debian.

Bug#542430: Incorrect wildcard expansion when p_sh has arguments to the shell

2009-11-03 Thread James Vega
Bram,

The code in src/os_unix.c:mch_expand_wildcards which detects what shell
is being used doesn't work properly if 'shell' has been set to a shell
and arguments (e.g., /bin/tcsh -f).

5354 else if ((len = STRLEN(p_sh)) = 3)
5355 {
5356 if (STRCMP(p_sh + len - 3, csh) == 0)
5357 shell_style = STYLE_GLOB;
5358 else if (STRCMP(p_sh + len - 3, zsh) == 0)
5359 shell_style = STYLE_PRINT;
5360 }
5361 if (shell_style == STYLE_ECHO  strstr((char *)gettail(p_sh),
5362
sh) != NULL)
5363 shell_style = STYLE_VIMGLOB;

Vim checks whether the last 3 characters of 'shell' are csh. Since
the last 3 characters of p_sh in this case are -f, Vim then checks
whether sh is in gettail(p_sh) and uses sh-compatible shell expansion.

It looks like a safer approach would be to grab p_sh up to the first
whitespace and then use gettail() on that to get the shell name. That
should reduce the false-positive rate for setting STYLE_VIMGLOB in line
5363.

Although, it'll still fail with shells like fish which will pass the
strstr(..., sh) check but not work with STYLE_VIMGLOB. fish does work
with STYLE_ECHO, so we could add that to the special-case list.

Bug#554196: [console-setup] Generic German keyboard cannot be setup to use AltGr key

2009-11-03 Thread RalfGesellensetter
Package: console-setup
Version: 1.45
Severity: important

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Whatever settings I try - I cannot enter important characters like
@ (AltGr + Q)
~ (AltGr + +)
| (AltGr + )
or even: {[]}\

this is a problem within TTY or GTK applications. In KDE (4) apps the
AltGr key works as desired.

Maybe, these informations can help:
- when I type AltGr + Q twice, I get a list of known hosts (as if I type
  @ and 2xTAB)
- same problem is there when I use the (clickable) virtual keyboard of
  KDE.
- less - reports that instead of plain @, an ESC is sent before.

This means the ESC is triggered additionally before the desired @
character is sent. Did I mention that I own a straight 105-keyboard,
just QWERTZ.

Bug#554162: fail2ban: sometimes(frequently) fails to load iptable rules with multiple jails

2009-11-03 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko
Patch is working, but i can't use action_mw

 2009-11-03 21:04:02,138 fail2ban.actions.action: ERROR printf %b Subject:
 [Fail2Ban] cyrus: started
 From: Fail2Ban fail2ban

well -- that is what the patch you've applied accomplished
unfortunately :-/ since the mailing command is a multiline printf
command. imho instead of that patch I would simple tune up the action
for banning -- just add sleep 1 (or sleep 0.1 if system has that recent
sleep ;)) after each command and see how that helps

or may be alternatively just placing all commands on 1 line with ;
between them -- so they should start as a one command (you said that
system tolerated that fine)

All commands in one line work ok from command line.
interesting -- thanks for checking

Sequence is also ok. Fail2ban launches actions in threads?
to say the truth -- I don't know exactly... from what I know, it just
calls system() from stdlib, which should call /bin/sh -c '.'

I still think that the issue is deeper underground (iptables return
before actually completing modification of the table etc) although
myself could not replicate it on none of boxes (biefie enough: 8 cores,
64GB RAM etc) with smth like

for f in {1..100}; do /bin/sh -c iptables -N fail2ban-proftpd; iptables -A
fail2ban-proftpd -j RETURN; iptables -I INPUT -p tcp -m multiport --dports
ftp,ftp-data,ftps,ftps-data -j fail2ban-proftpd; iptables -D INPUT -p tcp -m
multiport --dports ftp,ftp-data,ftps,ftps-data -j fail2ban-proftpd; iptables -F
fail2ban-proftpd; iptables -X fail2ban-proftpd; done

now the question -- what is your /bin/sh? ;)
could you try different kernel? I've tried on 2.6.26-2-amd64

Python-jabberbot is a Jabber bot framework for Python that enables
you to easily write simple Jabber bots.

This Jabber bot is partly inspired by the xmpppy example bot.py,
but designed to be re-usable and to make it easy to write small
Jabber bots that do one thing and do it well.

Bug#554198: RM: libsoup -- ROM; unmaintained, replaced by libsoup2.4

2009-11-03 Thread Josselin Mouette
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi,

libsoup has been replaced by libsoup2.4 a while ago. All reverse
dependencies have been fixed except one - libsyncml. There is already a
bug about this one, being #530626, which I will make serious together
with posting this request. Note that there is already a fixed libsyncml
version in experimental.

Please remove libsoup from unstable.

Bug#554206: openjdk-6-jre-lib: usr-share-doc-symlink-without-dependency openjdk-6-jre

2009-11-03 Thread Manoj Srivastava
Package: openjdk-6-jre-lib
Version: 6b16-1.6.1-2

This means the package has been deemed too buggy to be in
Debian.

This patch should use an apropriate whitelist.

So, here is a status update on this issue:
What happened so far is, that I removed the blkid call for dm devices.
I also dropped the devkit-disks-dm-export prober altogether and instead rely on
the information setup by dmsetup/cryptsetup.

The last bit is the devkit-disks-part-id prober.

Unfortunately I can't just drop this prober completely for all dm/md devices, as
you might have partitioning information on such a device.

Discussing with upstream, 95-devkit-disks.rules was changed to only act on
change events (and not add|change) and I additionally added a rule to skip
devices where DM_HIDE==1 is set.

The latest state is at
http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-utopia/devicekit-disks.git;a=summary

and I plan to upload that soonish as 009-1.

Hopefully this addresses your remaining complaints in a sufficient manner so the
conflicts in dmsetup can be removed again.

2009-11-03 Thread Ramses Rodriguez Martinez
Package: lxde-common
Version: 0.4.2-1
Severity: normal

Variable XDG_CONFIG_HOME used in file /usr/bin/openbox-lxde is never
set, so openbox runs with a wrong argument --config-file
/openbox/lxde-rc.xml and user's configuration is never applied.

This variable should be set by /usr/bin/startlxde script but the
latter is never executed.

As a quick fix i did this on script /usr/bin/openbox-lxde:

   exec openbox --config-file
${XDG_CONFIG_HOME:-$HOME/.config}/openbox/lxde-rc.xml $@

But probably the proper solution involves calling /usr/bin/startlxde
in some step of lxde booting process.

I'm using xdm+lxde+openbox.

Bug#542430: Incorrect wildcard expansion when p_sh has arguments to the shell

2009-11-03 Thread Bram Moolenaar

James -

The code in src/os_unix.c:mch_expand_wildcards which detects what shell
is being used doesn't work properly if 'shell' has been set to a shell
 and arguments (e.g., /bin/tcsh -f).

 5354 else if ((len = STRLEN(p_sh)) = 3)
 5355 {
 5356 if (STRCMP(p_sh + len - 3, csh) == 0)
 5357 shell_style = STYLE_GLOB;
 5358 else if (STRCMP(p_sh + len - 3, zsh) == 0)
 5359 shell_style = STYLE_PRINT;
 5360 }
 5361 if (shell_style == STYLE_ECHO  strstr((char *)gettail(p_sh),
 5362
 sh) != NULL)
 5363 shell_style = STYLE_VIMGLOB;

Well, theoretically there could be a space in the path. I think
searching for the last slash, using gettail(), can comparing from that
position should work in most cases. To catch tcsh as well as csh we
can use strstr on gettail(). That only fails for sh -csh, but
that's unlikely to be used :-).

Bug#554244: libgdal1-1.3.2: /usr/lib/libmfhdf.so.4 and /usr/lib/libnetcdf.so.3 both define NC_check_id

2009-11-03 Thread David Monniaux
Package: libgdal1-1.3.2
Version: 1.3.2-4
Severity: important

/usr/lib/libgdal1.3.2.so refers to both /usr/lib/libmfhdf.so.4 and
/usr/lib/libnetcdf.so.3, both of which define functions with identical
names, in particular NC_check_id. The problem is that each of these
libraries has its own copy of certain data structures, and if both are
loaded terrible things happen, like netcdf initializing certain data
structures with its own functions and reading them with mfhdf's
functions.

The consequence is that it is impossible to write CDF files with
gdal_translate:
$ /usr/bin/gdal_translate -of gmt elevation.tif  foo.gmt
Input file size is 101, 101
netcdf: 3 is not a valid cdfid

(What happens is that NetCDF checks a variable called cdfid against a
list of open files... except that it calls the function from HDF to
perform the check, which fails.)

This is a known incompatibility, for which one can either disable HDF support
in GDAL, or build HDF without including its own NetCDF implementation,

incorporated into the kmchart replacement package, pcp-gui - if that
turns out not to be the case (I'm certain it is though), please let
me know.

cheers.

Bug#554165: gnome-applets: sticky notes applet does not start any more

Hello,

A patch is available for Debian's expat package. I haven't tested it,
but the version of expat included in Lenny's python-xml is the same as
the version of expat in etch (1.95.8)

So the patch is in:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=551936

Thanks,

tenmado is a vertically scrolling, late 1990s style (that is, a massive
number of enemy shots against a smaller-than-it-looks spaceship) shoot 'em
up game. A very accurate collision detection makes it a game of
dexterity. If something looks like a triangle, it is a triangle, not
 a rectangle of similar size.

However, surviving is only 20% of the game. The main feature of tenmado
is the color chain bonus. You can get a very big score (about 100 times
bigger than a normal enemy-destruction point) by destroying enemies of
the same color successively. It is easy or difficult depending on how
 greedy you are.

Bug#554203: libuim-dev: usr-share-doc-symlink-without-dependency uim-common

2009-11-03 Thread Manoj Srivastava
Package: libuim-dev
Version: 1:1.5.6-1

This means the package has been deemed too buggy to be in
Debian.

Bug#554233: ssmping: fails to build from source

2009-11-03 Thread Jim Meyering
Package: ssmping
Version: 0.9.1-2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hello,

I noticed that ssmp 0.9.1 fails to build from source with reasonably new glibc.
Since I don't see a bug tracker or mailing list, I'm reporting it here.

First, compilation fails:

ssmpingd.c: In function 'zerosrcinterface':
ssmpingd.c:44: error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type

There is also a type mismatch warning:

ssmping.c:55: warning: passing argument 3 of 'getsockname' from \
  incompatible pointer type

The type mismatch matters when socklen_t and size_t have different widths.
And they do on most x86_64 systems (4 vs 8).
Here are patches for both:

Description: shoot 'em up game with the not shooting bonus
You control a space ship in a vertically scrolling window and shoot
enemies. If you kill the boss enemy which appears at the end of each stage,
or if you can survive till the boss enemy gets bored with you and escapes,
you can go to the next stage.
 .
xsoldier has a unique feature --- the not shooting bonus. You can get
a pretty good score by not pressing the shoot button. After all, if the
game is a simple kill-everything and shooting is always a good thing, why
do I have to press a shoot button? You can play xsoldier as a simple
kill-everything (and it is the best way to survive), but if you care your
score, you need to kill all enemies with a minimum number of bullets.

Bug#553343: gnome-session: after upgrading, something continuously sends data to gconfd making it occupy 100% of the CPU

Since it only happens with compiz, I presume this is a bug in compiz,
which fails to present itself as a window manager.

Ah, gnome-session checks for that? Ok, it behaves sanely then. And
to be fair, it's not a bug in compiz; the reason I ran into this
problem is because I was running compiz with --sm-disable... (Yes it
was necessary at the time that I had set it up, I can explain why.)

So I have nothing more to complain about here. :^) I'll leave it to
you to close the bug, I'd do it but I'm not sure what's the correct
way in this case.

Thanks again,
Vasilis

Bug#554349: apt: Method rred has died unexpectedly!

2009-11-03 Thread Faheem Mitha
Package: apt
Version: 0.7.20.2+lenny1
Severity: normal

I am currently getting the following. My guess is a malformed pdiff
file. A couple of other people of #debian (oftc) have been seeing
similar errors. Possibly related to
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=545694 but this is
supposedly fixed on 0.7.24 and one of my co-bug-reporters can
reproduce this on sid.

Note the same pdiff, 2009-11-04-0016.39.pdiff, occurs before each
error.

This is the first joint bug report I've filed, and I've been using
Debian and filing bug reports since 2001. :-)

   Regards, Faheem.

Bug#554218: perl: FTBFS on hppa: Thread creation failed

2009-11-03 Thread Niko Tyni
tag 554218 fixed-upstream

This is a bug in the perl test case.

The error number 11 is EAGAIN, which means it needs to retry the
 thread creation.

Thanks! I should probably have done some more homework first myself, sorry
about that. I was thinking of signal 11 which led me to the wrong track.

I see this should already be fixed upstream in threads-shared-1.31:

 http://search.cpan.org/diff?from=threads-shared-1.29to=threads-shared-1.31

as confirmed by the recent successful build of the separate
libthreads-shared-perl package:

https://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=libthreads-shared-perl;ver=1.32-1;arch=hppa;stamp=1256995073

 # Warning: Thread creation failed due to 'No more processes'

Bug#554138: calamaris: poor wording in cron.conf

2009-11-03 Thread Karl Goetz
Package: calamaris

Hi,
in cron.conf is the following line:
The script does currently not check wether the directory ...
I'd suggest rewording it to The script does not check whether the directory
...

Sorry about not providing a proper patch, but there seems to be no VCS fields
for the package, and debcheckout failed.
