I also have this issue on a MacbookPro7,1, doesn't seem like there's an
alternate driver option here. It only doesn't connect on hidden networks
if I make the same network visible it works perfectly.

From the bug log, it seems that this bug now only happens when
upgrading from a version of the package in backports.d.o
If I'm right, the bug should then be downgraded to important. We
