Thanks -- I'll file this upstream. It uses CRYPTO_lock in
configure.ac, not in actual code. So it might be easy to fix.

Don't worry -- I read code and it won't help to test a later version.

Bug#835553: network-manager: WiFi authentication fails after upgrade to 1.4.0

2016-09-25 Thread Ben Caradoc-Davies

I still see this failure in 1.4.0-4. What was cherry-picked from upstream?

The workaround in /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf still allows
authentication to succeed:

[device]
wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no

Removing this workaround causes authentication to fail as before.

Kind regards,

What is the output of
  file test1.ogg

Can you play the file with any other media player (e.g. mplayer)?

Your command works for me when I copy a valid .ogg file to test1.ogg,
but I am getting exactly your error when I copy an HTML document to
test1.ogg

Bug#838878: speedtest-cli: Consistently gives lower results than webpage

2016-09-25 Thread Witold Baryluk
Package: speedtest-cli
Version: 0.3.4-1
Severity: normal

So, this might be somehowe related to how webrowsers do TCP, and some
other tweaks, but http://beta.speedtest.net/ consistenly gives me faster
download and upload speeds, for the same servers compared to what
speedtest-cli is reporting.

I am able to consistently get that behaviour, using same, and multiple
server and multiple repetitions.

i.e. beta.speedtest.net reporting 828Mbps download, 738Mbps upload.

speedtest-cli for same server reporting 350Mbps download, 120Mbps upload.

During test python and speedtest-cli are only using 20% of single core.

Please investigate.

Bug#768073: LXC team take over ITP?

2016-09-25 Thread Thomas Goirand
Jonathan,

By all means, please take over the ITP. We've been waiting for too long,
and it would be a big plus if we could have LXD for Stretch. If it was
there, I could working out a python-nova-lxd and nova-compute-lxd
package, which would be nice to see in Debian Stertch as well.

We've been waiting for too long. At this point, I'd say that the first
who uploads to the NEW queue wins.

Cheers,

Bug#743382: dvdvideo-backup-image should end up 100%, not 99%

2016-09-25 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
[Bastian Blank 2014-04-06]
> Not possible. This DVD is shorter then the filesystem specifies. And
> the tool exits when it gets an EOF.

Right. My idea was that this was simply a missing progress bar update or
a rounding error, but looking at the code it does indeed look like the
last block is simply missing and not copied.

I find the progress bare update in /usr/bin/dvdvideo-backup-image:

progress = ProgressMeter(stream, image_length // 512)
[...]
for part in parts_complete:
logging.debug('part: %r', part)

for r in part.dump(media):
count_real = len(r) // 2048
progress.update(count_real // 512)
cur += count_real
image.write(r)

logging.debug('part end, written %d', cur)

The only way this could fail to move to 100% seen to be that the
dump(media) call simply do not return enough bytes to fill
image_length bytes.

But I believe I have never seen a DVD ending up on 100%. Perhaps this
is the way the DVD specification require DVDs to be set up?

Bug#838855: perl: no longer provides perl-modules, ~35 reverse dependencies still in the archive

2016-09-25 Thread Niko Tyni
Package: perl-modules-5.24
Version: 5.24.1~rc3-2
Severity: serious

It looks like we stopped Providing perl-modules in 5.24 but missed
transitioning its reverse dependencies.

As stated in the commit message of

https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/perl/perl.git/commit/?id=eae8645a080c81093fd4a5479c9889cbb9a8a13f
"This will need changing ~35 packages in unstable to drop build and
runtime dependencies on perl-modules." Unfortunately we seem to have
forgotten to actually push that through.

According to the same commit message, the reason for dropping
the Provides entry was coinstallability between perl-modules-5.22
and perl-modules-5.24. At the time perl-modules-5.22 conflicted
unconditionally with perl-modules, but this was later changed to a
versioned conflict (see #821161).

I think we should be able to simply reinstate the Provides without
other changes, but will to do some testing to confirm.

Currently affected packages:

 apt-mirror
 cd-circleprint
 chronicle
 conmux
 debian-builder
 dhelp
 dirvish
 dl10n
 ecaccess
 fig2ps
 git
 iwatch
 kanla
 libfinance-yahooquote-perl
 libmime-lite-html-perl
 libtk-tablematrix-perl
 libyaml-shell-perl
 nuxwdog
 oar-restful-api
 ogamesim-www
 parallel
 po4a
 pod2pdf
 ps-watcher
 qdbm
 rcconf
 rt-extension-calendar
 rt-extension-spawnlinkedticketinqueue
 sitesummary
 sitesummary-client
 tightvnc
 wakeonlan
 yample

Related to this, these have a preferred alternative build dependency
on perl-modules-5.22 which is broken too:

 libgraphics-colornames-perl
 libgraphics-colorobject-perl

Bug#838857: firefox: Widevine is not installed

2016-09-25 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: firefox
Version: 49.0-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The widevine module is not loaded.

 * open firefox (maybe a new profile)
 * open your favorite non-free video service
 * a banner asks if drm should be activated: Say yes
 * banner now informs that the drm functionality will be there soon
 * open about:addons and switch to plugins
 * widevine module is shown with a message that it will be available
   soon

Expected:

 * module is activated after a short time and drm works

Actual outcome:

 * the activation stucks. In "plugins" the message for availability does
   not go away.

I tried the same as root (probably permission problems??) and with empty
profiles but no further activity.

Bug#838734: [plasma-discover] plasma-discover uninstalls packages during upgrades without asking for confirmation

2016-09-25 Thread Scott Kitterman
Thanks.

Another scenario to consider is a user that doesn't know any better enables a
poorly maintained third party repository that contains conflicting packages
that cause large numbers of removals.

This can happen post-release and is a scenario the user base you're targeting
is particularly vulnerable to.

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for solarwolf (versioned as 1.5-2.2) and
uploaded it to DELAYED/2. Please feel free to tell me if I
should delay it longer.

Please find attached the debdiff.

It is expected, since PIE is still not used.

I tried using -fPIE and -fPIC to allow PIE but kernel mode code did
not allow those
thus I believe the proposed patch is the way to go, disabling PIE for
UML for now.

Attached is the diff in assembly output for Perl_custom_op_register compiled
with gcc-5 and gcc-6,
respectively. This is with 5.22.2 which I happened to have handy.

The differences are just label changes and I don't see any functional
difference in the assembly.

It seems to work now. It's not obvious what is causing these
intermittent issues. Any additional information you might have could be
useful.

Bug#838856: ITP: ruby-rgfa -- Ruby library for handling GFA files

2016-09-25 Thread Sascha Steinbiss
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Sascha Steinbiss

* Package name: ruby-rgfa
  Version : 1.2
  Upstream Author : Giorgio Gonnella
* URL : https://github.com/ggonnella/rgfa
* License : ISC
  Programming Lang: Ruby
Description : Ruby library for handling GFA files

The Graphical Fragment Assembly (GFA) format is a proposed file format
to describe the product of a genome sequence assembly process.
rgfa implements the proposed specifications for the GFA format
described under https://github.com/pmelsted/GFA-spec/blob/master/GFA-spec.md
as closely as possible.
The library allows one to create an RGFA object from a file in the GFA format
or from scratch, to enumerate the graph elements (segments, links,
containments, paths and header lines), to traverse the graph (by
traversing all links outgoing from or incoming to a segment), to search for
elements (e.g. which links connect two segments) and to manipulate the
graph (e.g. to eliminate a link or a segment or to duplicate a segment
distributing the read counts evenly on the copies).

The python-configshell-fb package is a Python library that provides a
framework for building simple but nice CLI-based applications. It is
 compatible with Python 3.

The python-configshell-fb package is a fork of the python-configshell
package and will replace it. It is a dependency of the targetcli-fb
package which is a command-line interface for configuring the LIO
generic SCSI target, present in the Linux kernel. An ITP bug for
 targetcli-fb will be submitted later.

I will co-maintain the package in the linux-target Alioth packaging
 project.

Bug#838866: vorbis-tools FTCBFS: does not honour DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nocheck

2016-09-25 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: vorbis-tools
Version: 1.4.0-10
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

vorbis-tools fails to cross build from source, because it runs tests
even when invoked with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nocheck. Tests naturally fail,
because host architecture executables cannot be executed at all in a
cross build setting. The attached patch implements the necessary
handling of DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nocheck. Please consider applying it.

After applying it, vorbis-tools does not become cross buildable. It also
fails to find ao.pc using pkg-config, because ao.pc does not live in a
multiarch path. So #638741 needs to be fixed as well for actually cross
building vorbis-tools.

Bug#768073: LXC team take over ITP?

2016-09-25 Thread Adnan Hodzic
Hey Jonathan (and everybody else),

Sorry about delayed reply.

> Adnan, how's it going?

Awhile back I started packaging process. I basically re-packaged the LXD
Ubuntu package. As Evgeni mentioned it "is what we did with the other LXC
components and that worked out pretty well so far."

However, with LXD, build would fail due to all the "golang-* dependencies
which are missing from Debian. I also planned on re-packaging these as
well, but I got sidetracked by things from "real life".

>There's a pkg-lxc team already. Since this package is/will be very
inter-related to
>LXC, perhaps it should be developed in that team? Team CCed. Are they
interested?
>Are you in pkg-lxc already?

I think Evgeni, gave a perfect answer for this one:

>Yes, Adnan is in pkg-lxc and technically the team is interested
>(given it falls into the same software stack) to have the whole stack
available in Debian.

...

>What's the state of the Ubuntu package? Could that make a good starting
point? How
>much hacking before that would be suitable for an experimental upload at
least?

Basically if we resolved the issue with missing golang-* dependencies, we
could probably have it uploaded within same day.

Yep, this is our only and main obstacle.

>Stack-wise it's more pkg-lxc, language-wise pkg-go...

times too.

I love this suggestion. If we could make this cooridnation happen, and both
teams do their part of the job that would be the perfect fusion.

I admit and acknowledge your frustration about this ITP being here for this
long. I think I explained why I stopped where I stopped, but I also admit
that I could've been more update to date with my communication.

If anyone wants to "hijack" this ITP from me, be my guest. Regardless, I
would still like to do the work that I claimed the responsibility for, and
get LXD into Debian.

At this point, I think we just need to align the efforts between pkg-go and
pkg-lxc teams, and we'll see LXD in Debian in no time.

Bug#838876: debian-reference: .xesssion

2016-09-25 Thread Brian Potkin
Source: debian-reference
Version: 2.59
Severity: normal

Section 7.5.2. makes it clear that ~/.xsession or ~/.Xsession customise
the startup of X for a user. This fits well with what is is said in
startx(1) and Xsession(5). A ~/.xsession is the client which controls
the starting and stopping of X. This is referred to as the classic file
to use to customise an X session and to completely override the system
code.

In section 7.5.3. it is said that ~/.xsessionrc is a new method to
customise the X session without completely overriding the system code.

It is the second section I am concerned with. In the first place it
gives the impression that ~/.xsessionrc does something different from
~/.xsession but does not specify what. In the second place the official
documentation on ~/.xsessionrc is severely lacking. The best it can do
is in Xsession(5):

 > This allows the user to set global environment variables
 > for their X session, such as locale information

Indeed it can, but global environment variables are just as happy being
in ~/.xsession. It isn't mentioned in Xsession(5) that X programs and
scripts can be run from ~/.xsessionrc but people do that to completely
override the system code. The same programs and scripts will run from
~/.xsession. Is it not the case that whatever can be put in ~/.xsession
can also be put in ~/.xsessionrc?

So what is the purpose of ~/.xsessionrc? Why does it exist? What does it
do better than ~/.xsession?

A ~/.xsession must contain a command for a process which does not
complete (e.g. 'exec fvwm'). If it doesn't it is not possible to put
environment variables (or anything else there) there to be acted on by
50x11-common_determine-startup. This was the thrust of the report in
#411639 and the reason ~/.xsessionrc was introduced. (Why 'exec
gnome-session' or a similar line could not be put in ~/.xsession as a
solution is beyond me).

The purpose of ~/.xsessionrc deserves an entry in debian-reference but
not under a heading of "Customizing the X session (new method)" and with
rather more detailed treatment than it gets elsewhere.

Regards,

Brian.

Indeed. Somehow I was fooled by
https://packages.qa.debian.org/l/linux.html which lists 4.7.2-1 as the
version in testing. Sorry for the confusion.

Bug#838860: Version 32+ Flash (SWF) files detected as 'application/octet-stream' (data), not 'application/x-shockwave-flash' by file (libmagic1)

2016-09-25 Thread Laurence Parry
Package: file
Version: 1:5.22+15-2+deb8u2
Tags: upstream

Flash files compiled with -swf-version=32 or above are being recognized as
'application/octet-stream' (data) rather than
'application/x-shockwave-flash' due to a restriction in the magic
definition file.

Command:
file -b --mime-type test.swf

Expected output:
application/x-shockwave-flash

Actual output (with jessie and testing):
application/octet-stream

Hex dump of first 16 bytes:
hd -n 16 test.swf
  43 57 53 20 f9 27 53 00 78 9c 94 9a 55 50 1d d1 |CWS
.'S.x...UP..|
(the full file has not yet been publicly released by the creator)

This bug was introduced in 2014 in version 1.10 of the flash magic
definition used by file (via libmagic1 / libmagic-mgc) in an attempt to fix
Debian bug #745546
https://github.com/file/file/commit/281578a58328ed76ea2b00c03c3e45f36203c354#diff-ea5efd5565ac4dfd72536c835cab977c
This appears to be the current upstream version. The version in wheezy is
not affected.

It was assumed that the version number would remain below 32 "for the time
being". This time has passed. Version 32 was published in May 2016, and it
is already up to 34:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/articles/flashplayer-air-feature-list.html
We detected this issue when our web application refused an SWF file created
by an animator.

It may be prudent to assume that the full version byte may be used.
However, this would trigger the issue mentioned in #745546:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=745546
i.e. misdetection of this file as a 516MB SWF:
http://git.openttd.org/?p=trunk.git;a=blob;f=os/dos/cwsdpmi/cwsdpmi.txt

Alternatives which would preserve the fix for #745546 might be to permit
versions below 48 ('0') or 65 ('A'), and/or to test for a sane length, e.g.

0 string CWS Macromedia Flash data (compressed),
>3 bytex version %d,
>>4 lelong <0x2000 length %d bytes
!:mime application/x-shockwave-flash

This refuses a 512MB compressed Flash file. I am not aware of anyone who's
created such a file, but it is technically possible (e.g. Flash games with
very large embedded flash videos).

We've worked around this bug by adding a previous version of the magic
definition to /etc/magic for now.

I do not think that you checked this thoroughly enough.

You removed a package providing hardware support without checking
whether the hardware is on machines still supported by Debian.

Treating popcon as an important data point is not good.

Popcon is not very represenative, especially for special-purpose
software.

That's just blindly looking at statistics.

None of the bugs seems to matter for a normal user of the package.

See below for an explanation why your "all users are developers" logic
is flawed.

And again you are arguing based on popcon.

Your "significantly higher in the past" sounds a lot less convincing
when expressed as "16 popcon-reporting machines less have it installed".

What you wrote is pretty unrelated to what I am talking about.

You wrote that cobalt-panel-utils was dead upstream.
This is correct, but completely irrelevant.
It is normal and expected that upstream is dead at this point.

cobalt-panel-utils upstream was already dead for years at wheezy times,
but wheezy does explicitely list the MIPS Cobalts as supported.

The only relevant question is whether there are any MIPS or x86 based
Cobalts that are still working in unstable, and where users will miss
cobalt-panel-utils.

I think the answer is No, but someone from the MIPS list should confirm
whether it is in principle still possible to run Debian on any Cobalts.

An ftp master mistaking two bad reasons for a good reason doesn't make
it right.

> You

You miss that the dead upstream is not a problem for such a package.

This code was published by Sun in 2003, and the "dead-upstream"
you are referring to is a guy who did some modifications to
cobalt-panel-utils in 2005.

MIPS Cobalts are officially listed as supported in wheezy, which was
released a year after cobalt-panel-utils was orphaned.

Nothing in the bugs indicated that cobalt-panel-utils was broken when
the hardware was still officially supported in a new stable Debian
in 2013, 8 years after the last upstream release and 7 years (sic)
after the last Debian upload.

> If you disagree with all this, just open up an ITP bug and reintroduce

It is a common misconception that Debian is for Debian developers only.

In reality, Debian stable is used in many areas, and the vast majority
of users won't see anything done on unstable until after the next stable
is released.

Please be more careful when asking for removal for software that is in
stable, and check whether there really is a good reason for removal.

When a package wasn't too broken for stable and you wouldn't object
to someone ITP'ing the package back immediately afterwards, what is
the benefit of removal?

None of "orphaned". "low popcon" or "upstream homepage dead" is
convincing for removal - even in combination.

Removing hardware support without first checking whether this hardware
is on machines that are still supported is simply

Bug#838863: xarchiver FTCBFS: uses build architecture pkg-config

2016-09-25 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: xarchiver
Version: 1:0.5.4-4
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

xarchiver fails to cross build from source, because it uses the build
architecture pkg-config and thus fails to find gtk. The method for
detecting pkg-config is kinda ancient and recent autoconf macros would
just find the right pkg-config. Instead of modernizing the build system,
I opted for the simple way and override it via the corresponding
environment variable. The attached patch makes xarchiver cross build
just fine. Please consider applying it.

Bug#838864: chromium crashes soon after start

2016-09-25 Thread robert b
Package: chromium
Version: 53.0.2785.113-1~deb8u1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Started chromium.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Upgraded from chromium 52 -> chromium 53. Downgrading to chromium 52 makes it
work again.

Tried "chromium -g" and it appeared to crash when calling some function in
ld-linux-x86-64 . (Note that, due to limited resources on the machine in
question, I cannot download and use chromium-dbg.)

   * What was the outcome of this action?

About 10-15 seconds later, chromium gets a segmentation fault.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

It to continue to work.

Does this problem still occur when using Linux 4.7 (currently in

Bug#838869: jessie-pu: package libdatetime-timezone-perl/1:1.75-2+2016g

I've prepared an update for libdatetime-timezone-perl in jessie,
which incorporates the 2016g version of the Olson db.
As usual, as a quilt patch which only touches the data files.

Since the major change in this tzdata release is that Turkey doesn't
switch back from +03 to +02 at the end of October, this might be
material for stable-updates, depending on when the next point release
is planned.

I'm attaching a manually stripped down debdiff.

Cheers,
gregor

Bug#756565: lives: Numerous insecure temporary files used in smogrify

2016-09-25 Thread salsaman
All issues noted above have been fixed. In addition:

- the terminology has been changed throughout to try to be less confusing.
The directory is now referred to as the "LiVES working directory"
everywhere.
For example prefs->tmpdir is now prefs->workdir in the C code, and $tmpdir
is now $workdir in Perl. The only exception is in the .lives config file
where the text and must be retained for backwards
compatilbility.

- there were a couple of playback plugins where /tmp was the default for
creating a fifo file inside. Even though the user could overwrite this, the
default has now been changed to create these files in the LiVES working
directory.

- the command "smogrify get_tempdir" has been left alone for backwards
compatibility but is marked as deprecated in the source file. A new
directive "smogrify get_workdir" has been created, this latter version
writes to stdout and other applications may read this with popen().

- a couple of places where LiVES was creating temporary files in /tmp have
been altered to create these in the working directory instead.

I believe that all issues have been addressed. I will continue testing and
examining the code over the next few days to confirm this.

Upstream closed the upstream bug report in [1] with commit [2].
I've cherry-picked that commit [3] (among others).

If that doesn't fix the issue, please re-open the bug report upstream.
Just to be sure, reboot the system.

No harm done. I wonder if libvala-XY-dev should be named libvala-dev
with the next version increase, though. This should make binnmu
based transitions possible for valabind.

valadoc needs code adjustments for each vala release, but I can
specify Build-Depends: libvala-dev (< max-version-supported+1~).
So if I upload a valadoc release with 0.36 support before valac
is in the archive valadoc could also be binnmu'd once vala 0.36
arrives.

Bug#811826: enigma: FTBFS with GCC 6: no match for

2016-09-25 Thread Erich Schubert
Thank you.
I did not get around to update engima yet, unfortunately. I was hoping
to do this this weekend, but I don't have a lot of time anymore.
There is also a newer upstream, 1.21, that should eventually be used.

Feel free to move the upload to non-delayed.

Best regards,
Erich

Would a Provides: libvala-dev be sufficient?

I think it makes some sense to include the API version in
libvala-XY-dev. After all, the version is encoded in
libvala-XY.pc and /usr/include/vala-XY.

Would we need to provide an unversioned libvala.pc as well?

Hi!

Thanks for reporting.

The Adwaita icon theme not used right. As an example look at the icon
/etc/adduser.conf in Cinnamon and Gnome. In the first case it is a

in the second it is a texted sheet.

The icon that you see depends on the icon theme you are using, not only
the

using
adwaita as the icon them?

Could you maybe send a couple of screenshots, one from GNOME and one from
Cinnamon, where you show both the icon that you see and the icon theme
that is

ThanksMarga

Hello,

Yes, the adwaita icon theme is used in both DE.

The screenshots are attached.

There is also no icon at all in Menu -> Recent Files submenu.

Best wishes,

Hey.

Is it really necessary that the userland tools binary package depends
on the kernel driver package?

That seems to be rather uncommon among similar packages...

Cheers,

Yes, CRYPTO_lock has been removed.

I'll see about testing that some time, but it's very low on my

Bug#831101: it's torch3 what's the culprit

2016-09-25 Thread Adam Borowski
I've taken a brief look at this FTBFS, and it appears that it's not a
problem in imms but in torch3 (a build-dependency) which #defines min() and
max() which breaks functions mandated by C++11 and higher, and with new gcc's
focus being on C++14 compliancy, --std=c++98 doesn't appear to be enough to
workaround the issue.

As torch3 has other RC bugs, and popcons of these packages (7 and 14 vote,
respectively) are so low, I'll put my QA tuits elsewhere for now.

Hi Sven,

Hmm, my mistake, I misread your email. I remove the pending tag.

I have investigated a bit more and unfortunately I am unable to

Bug#838830: gnome-twitch: circular dependency hell

Thanks for pointing that out, I did not know that.

As far as I can see, there are 3 possible solutions:

1) Remove the dependency from gnome-twitch on its player backends
+ When uninstalling gnome-twitch, all additionally installed player
backends are removed
  - When installing gnome-twitch, the user has to manually install a
player backend, which he might not be aware of.

2) Remove the dependency from the individual player backends on gnome-twitch
+ When installing gnome-twitch, the user automatically installs a
player backend if he didn't manually do so
  - When the user has manually installed additional player backends and
removes gnome-twitch, the player backends will stay, along with
their dependencies.

3) Replace the dependency from gnome-twitch on its player backends with
"Recommends".
+ When uninstalling gnome-twitch, all additionally installed player
backends are removed
+ When installing gnome-twitch, the user automatically installs a
player backend if he didn't manually do so and if he didn't
explicitly configure apt to not install recommended packages
+ If there ever is a case where a third-party player backend enters
the archive, the user could install that without having one of the
player backends from this source package installed. Same goes for
locally built player backends.

It seems I should go with option 3. Do you agree?

Sincerely,
Tim Dengel

Bug#838871: ifupdown: attempts to bring up allow-hotplug interfaces at boot ignoring link state

2016-09-25 Thread manul
Package: ifupdown
Version: 0.8.16
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

My laptops cable interface eth0 is listed in /etc/network/interfaces, using the
following stanza:

>> allow-hotplug eth0
>> iface eth0 inet dhcp

The reason I use allow-hotplug is:

As per man interfaces 5, I want my eth0 interface to be brought up (and
dchp-initialized) only when the link gets up (cable gets connected).
So in a typical situation when I reboot with eth0 cable unplugged, waiting for
link initialization does not block the bootup process until timeout.

However since recent update, ifupdown sysvinit script seems to have started
ignoring this stanza and attempts to bring up interfaces listed as
allow-hotplug in /etc/network/interfaces at boot, even if they are unplugged
(cable not connected).

Outcome:

When I boot with eth0 cable unplugged in the bootup log sequence I get:
>> Configuring network interfaces...
>> ifup: waiting for lock on /run/network/interfaces/ifstate.eth0

At this point the boot is stuck for about 1 min until the message "ifup:
interface eth0 already configured" comes up, and bootup continues.

Expected outcome:

Upon boot with cable unplugged (link state down), interfaces listed as
allow-hotplug should not be brought up/ initialized.

Package: cdbs
Version: 0.4.148
Severity: wishlist

Apparently, dh_bash-completion (part of the bash-completion package) is
the recommended way of installing bash completion scripts nowadays.

CDBS' debhelper rules file so far doesn't call it, but I believe it
should.

Yes, and shipping both is implemented in d/rules:
...
$(MAKE) -C lib/cpp CXXFLAGS="+ -fPIC -DPIC"
mv -f lib/cpp/src/libantlr.a debian/libantlr-pic.a
$(MAKE) -C lib/cpp clean
$(MAKE) -C lib/cpp
...

>

The two other packages could be fixed instead, but I believe
shipping only libantlr.a compiled with -fPIC would result the
best overall outcome partly due to simpler code in every
affected package.

Apparently only one package uses -pic.a which need to be changed:
https://codesearch.debian.net/search?q=antlr-pic

Please see related discussion on d-devel:

This is working fine with firefox downloaded directly from mozilla.org
(in an other profile). If I'm copying the runtime (gmp-widevine)
downloaded in that profile to my main one used by debian version of
firefox, it still not working.

OK the fact that it's not downloading the runtime is due to the
following line in /etc/firefox/firefox.js

// Avoid openh264 being downloaded.
pref("media.gmp-manager.url.override", "data:text/plain,");

But now the plugin-container crashes...

OK, so something (other than those modules) is keeping the CPUs busy.
Please install linux-perf and use perf (as root) to show what it's busy
with:

perf record -a sleep 10    # creates 'perf.data' in current dir
perf report > perf_report.txt # will show some warnings; don't worry about
them

Bug#831587: stressapptest: please make the build reproducible

2016-09-25 Thread Blanc Pierre
Hi Chris,

> No problem; did you get a chance to have a look at this yet? :)

First, I am sincerely sorry for the delay.

I checked your patch, are you sure that the fault is the timestamp ?

The error on Jenkins is
"user_hostname_manually_added_requiring_further_investigation"
https://tests.reproducible-builds.org/debian/rb-pkg/unstable/amd64/stressapptest.html

So, I have created this patch to fix the issue :

I also built it on mentors

What is your opinion ?

As long as it's guaranteed, that there is only one package providing
libvala-dev it might work. It would be a problem if libvala-0.34-dev
and libvala-0.36-dev (numbers are just examples) are both available
and providing libvala-dev. Then it's unclear which build-dependency
should be pulled.

That could be worked around by creating a transition-style
libvala-dev package, that depends on libvala-xy-dev.

No.

valabind checks which libvala-xy it has to build against
based on the valac version:

https://sources.debian.net/src/valabind/0.10.0-1/getvv/

valadoc has a list of supported libvala versions, that
it can build against:

Bug#838868: mutt shows index line at top of pager

Severity: normal

Since the most recent upgrade of mutt (1.7.0-5 -> 1.7.0-6, which also

shown at the bottom of a mailbox index.

I haven't found any option in muttrc that corresponds to this, either to
disable it, or preferably to *enable* it with it remaining disabled by

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for enigma (versioned as 1.20-dfsg.1-2.1) and
uploaded it to DELAYED/2. Please feel free to tell me if I
should delay it longer.

Please find attached the debdiff.

Bug#838877: Installing packages writes to unexpected locations

2016-09-25 Thread Elliott Mitchell
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.17.27

When installing packages which *only* have files in /usr, I generally
try to leave / read-only. With the recent release of `dpkg` though this
has become problematic.

>From the error message, during unpacking `dpkg` is trying to create a
file/directory as /usr.dpkg-tmp, which fails if / is read-only. This
could actually cause some problems. Notably if `dpkg` is doing this to
check whether the filesystem has sufficient free space, this check *WILL*
fail since / and /usr could well be different filesystems. This could
also cause trouble if /usr.dpkg-tmp is large and / has limited free
space.

I'm unsure how to rate the severity of this issue. This is distinctly
annoying and can trigger warning flags, but I suppose in many cases it
won't cause problems for people. Folks who always remount / read-write
when upgrading packages may well not notice, but those of use who pay a
bit more attention do notice.

Does

Hi Peter,
when I informally talked to Richard, the NeoMutt maintainer, he told me that
this might be fixed starting from 20160916, which means that we expect this to
be fixed starting from 1.7.0-6 in Debian, do you mind letting us know whether
this is still reproducible?
Thanks!

When fed the following example from RFC 6068:

Thanks for the report, as this is still reproducible in 1.7.0-6, I've forwarded
it upstream.

Hi Edward,
we expect this to have been fixed in 1.7.0-6, do you mind rechecking with the
latest version and verifying whether that's the case?

Bug#838887: please dont bomb out on nofail option

2016-09-25 Thread Marc Haber
Package: initramfs-tools
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

when I looked for the last time (a few months ago), fstab entries
parsed by initramfs-tools or in initramfs MUST NOT contain the
"nofail" option. This is kind of surprising since some other fstab
entries MUST contain the "nofail" option to avoid systemd from bombing
out on boot.

This inconsistence makey it necessary to think in which lines to put
the nofail option and in which lines not.

Please consider tweaking initramfs-tools so that "nofail" can be in
all lines, with it being ignored in initramfs.

Greetings
Marc

Bug#838589: pg8000: please provide Python 3 package

How would enabling a new python3-pg8000 package without touching the
python-pg8000 package break anything that depends on python-pg8000?

Bug#831174: gcc-avr: diff for NMU version 1:4.9.2+Atmel3.5.0-1.1

2016-09-25 Thread Hakan Ardo
Thanx. I've got a version on the way that instead applies this upstream fix
for gcc 6 compatibility:

https://gcc.gnu.org/git/?p=gcc.git;a=commitdiff;h=ec1cc0263f156f70693a62cf17b254a0029f4852

I would prefer to go with thatone unless you have strong reasons for your
approach?

Bug#838546: closed by Ximin Luo <infini...@debian.org> (Bug#838546: fixed in mozilla-gnome-keyring 0.11+git4-2)

2016-09-25 Thread Ximin Luo
Did you add intrigeri to this thread by accident or on purpose? AFAICS he is
not related to this package.

Have you guys tried running firefox in safe mode or in a new profile? Sometimes
it has trouble detecting upgraded extensions, it's been a problem for a while
and I can't easily do anything about it.

X

Thank you for forwarding. :-)

Several weeks ago I posted a question on mentors, asking why buildd
doesn't build caffe-contrib and saying "cuda" is missing. Now I know
buildd won't pull non-free stuff and source-only upload may cause
"partial missing" package.

I noticed this FTBTS some time ago in package caffe (another
version, free of cuda). However I didn't look into the reason of build failure
because at that time there was an hdf5 transition.

╰─>$ find /var/lib/dpkg/info/ -name '*.symbols' | grep hdf5 | xargs ack
H5LTread_dataset_string

/var/lib/dpkg/info/libhdf5-openmpi-10:amd64.symbols
3734: H5LTread_dataset_string@HDF5_MPI_1.8.7 1.8.13
/var/lib/dpkg/info/libhdf5-10:amd64.symbols
3707: H5LTread_dataset_string@HDF5_SERIAL_1.8.7 1.8.13

╰─>$ apt list libhdf5-10 libhdf5-openmpi-10
Listing... Done
libhdf5-10/unstable,now 1.8.16+docs-8+b1 amd64 [installed,automatic]
libhdf5-openmpi-10/unstable,now 1.8.16+docs-8+b1 amd64 [installed]

Well, confusing.

I used to test it against hdf5/sid. caffe* were uploaded to experimental
because runtime-dep python3-protobuf is still missing.

But this reminds to to test whether it compiles against hdf5/experimental.

That's ok, I'll handle the changes if any, as long as I can pass the build.
