Yes Please and add yourself to uploaders list. I can give out active
maintenance to you as I don't have
time to spend on the package and I don't really use kiwix.

Please update the symbols file first for your architecture and then
please upload to experimental, once its built on all architectures
please download logs and update symbols for remaining architecture.

Bug#901296: luabind is outdated, please fix it with one or more of the forks with a recent version

2018-06-10 Thread shirish शिरीष
Source: luabind
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

There are number of issues with the version of luabind in Debian. The
homepage given is no longer available and hence I guess even the
upstream sources are no longer available.

I have been trying to work with couple of upstream games which use
liblua and have been made aware of few different forks which would be
more preferable to the current one available in Debian.

See
https://bitbucket.org/allacrost/allacrost/issues/55/luabind-uses-deprecated-auto_ptr
for details.

It may also prove to be helpful in removing some of the lintian errors
as can be seen
in https://lintian.debian.org/maintainer/robe...@connexer.com.html#luabind

It may also be profitable as far as maintainance is concerned if
liblua was part of the debian-devel-games team and you being part of
the team.

I took the liberty of see if there were any reverse-builds of the
various build-depends which may hinder having conflicts but didn't see
anything which might make it difficult, at least to my untrained eye.

I used apt-rdepends --build-depends libluabind* | less basically all
the differnt libluabind library binaries to see if I could find
anything but seems it would be a self-contained transition without any
huge transition costs as can be seen in
https://release.debian.org/transitions/

Look forward to the new version in Debian soonish (hopefully with the
auto_ptr patches done).

Upgrading to timidity 2.14.0-3 and running

service timidity restart

worked, but I am at a loss as to why timidity could stop all sound working
in KDE plasma and not just software MIDI playback.

I didn't push this package to salsa yet. The issue I have is that it
depends on docker-dev, and it doesn't have any vendoring, so I can't
keep the vendored directory with a smart "Files-Excluded" field. The
solution I came up with was to make a patch that creates a vendor
directory and adds the bits we need from docker-dev.

With time I realized how super ugly and bad this kind of thing is.

So vendoring this one in docker looks like a much better approach.

> Also could you please ask upstream to tag releases?

Sure.

Bug#901291: RFA: pynliner -- CSS-to-inline-styles conversion tool for HTML - Python 2.x

2018-06-10 Thread Sandro Tosi
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the pynliner package.

The package description is:
Because Pynliner uses BeautifulSoup to find the tags specified in the CSS it
aggressively converts to HTML. This means that templating languages like Mako,
Genshi, and Jinja will be pounded into valid HTML in the process of applying
 styles.
 .
This package contains the Python 2 version of pynliner

The livelihood of gtk2 is not my call. You would need to take that

Bug#901289: Drop the `logsave` requirement in `/etc/init.d/checkfs.sh`.

2018-06-10 Thread Gong S____
Package: initscripts
Version: 2.88dsf-59.10

The current version used `logsave` to save `fsck` results.
When `logsave` is not present, the script will fail regardless of the actual FS
state.
/etc/init.d/checkfs.sh line 101 and 121:
logsave -s $FSCK_LOGFILE fsck $spinner -M -A $fix $force $FSCKTYPES_OPT
`logsave` is a part of `e2fsprogs`. If I do not use EXT filesystems (I use JFS
on my PC) I can purge this package.

My suggestion:
1. Do not use `logsave`. The process is not there in previous versions.or:
2. If `logsave` is not found just check the FS without using `logsave`.

Bug#901041: libviennacl-doc: fails to upgrade from 'testing' - trying to overwrite /usr/share/doc/libviennacl-dev/README.gz

2018-06-10 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Followup-For: Bug #901041
Control: found -1 1.7.1+dfsg1-4

You fixed the wrong problem. The Breaks+Replaces may still be needed,
but the underlying problem is not fixed - both libviennacl-dev and
libviennacl-doc ship these files:

  usr/share/doc/libviennacl-dev/README.gz
  usr/share/doc/libviennacl-dev/changelog.gz

This is most likely caused by a behavioral change in dh_installdocs
in debhelper compat level 11.

(Due to upload+testing timing I saw the buster->sid failure before the
sid+sid failure).

means one can just use #!/bin/sh ?

The most likely place I found is in GTK when it is trying to initialize

I think this might actually be the ideal solution, all else being equal,

unfortunately does not handle this scenario well, so I haven't attempted it.

It would be nice if you could attach iftop to v4tunnels. Instead iftop

Bug#884440: zimlib: Please package new 3.1.0 upstream version

2018-06-10 Thread Kunal Mehta
retitle 884440 Please package new 3.3.0 upstream version
thanks

upstream is now at 3.3.0. I went ahead and prepared most of the
packaging for this at
. Would it
help if I created a merge request on salsa? The remaining tasks should
be to generate the rest of the symbols files (I'm not sure how to do
that), and update the changelog.

This is needed so I can upgrade libkiwix and start packaging the rest of
the kiwix suite.

Thanks. For completeness, could you try this variant patch? If shells
are going to be unreliable about setting IFS in this way, then I'd
rather just separate out the assignments altogether.

I'm guessing it's the same for nm-applet. I got no network manager

It may be the reason why I have to login and "startx" now (well...
sudo ifconfig eth0 up, sudo dhclient, and then startx).

Some interesting logs/crash.

This is normal. GTK2 will eventually be deprecated, just like GTK1
long ago. In fact, its already started [0].

> GTK+3 is not an upgrade from GTK+ 2, it is a bastardization.

Wasn't GTK2 also a bastardization of GTK1?

> My suggestion is provide two packages, "chromium-gtk2" and "chromium-gtk3",

This would require building from source twice (and keeping chromium
buildable with gtk2, which upstream cares little about now). It
already takes way too much time to build chromium once.

That said, a binary package containing chromium's source has been
requested and may happen. Many kinds of alternative chromium builds
could be done if that were available.

Best wishes,
Mike

Thanks for the patch. Wouldn't it make more sense though to just send the
patch upstream? Upstream has a github repository, so opening a pull request
should be easy. I can do that if you don't have the time though.

Bug#901281: O: doschk -- SYSV and DOS filename conflicts check

2018-06-10 Thread Ben Pfaff
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

This package has no reported bugs, the last upstream release was in
1993, and zero recent users according to popularity-contest
(https://qa.debian.org/popcon.php?package=doschk). It has questionable
value these days. If no one wants to adopt it, it can probably be
removed from Debian.

Maybe it sound harsher than what I wanted to say.
I have no problem with policy-1.html to be dropped as a stop-gap
measure. However this is not a good long term solution. If sphynx cannot
do it then we should consider a better technology.

May I kindly suggest doing this work on a branch?

I am happy to review your grammar and spelling but I would very much
like to keep the "master" branch releasable at any time.

Unfortunately, I don't think these commits reach the level of quality
that Debian Developers would expect from Lintian.

What prevent dpkg to configure libstdc++6 in the first place ?

The problem might be some package that menu depend on.
I did not change the menu trigger code for a long time and nobody
reported upgrade problems, so the change must be in some other
package (or maybe this is a change in dpkg ?).

In any case, you are welcome to do the change in Ubuntu. This way we
will know if that breaks something.

Bug#901280: Hangs when creating a new files or opening an existing file

2018-06-10 Thread Gaudenz Steinlin
Package: quickroute-gps
Version: 2.4-15
Severity: important

Hi

If I create a new file, select a map image and GPX route and then click
on OK, quickroute just hangs indefinitely without using much CPU. The
same happens when I open a QRT file created on Windows. The same map
image and GPX track work just fine in the Windows version of Quickroute.

There is an exception stacktrace in .config/QuickRoute/QuickRoute.log
(attached).

If you need the map image and GPX track to reproduce the bug I can send
them to you by private mail or upload them somewhere.

Opening the JPG exported from Quickroute on Windows to our DOMA
archive [1] works also on Debian.

Gaudenz

[1] https://www.ubol.ch/DOMA/show_map.php?user=gaudenz&map=42

P.S.: Thanks for packageing Quickroute. I was very pleasantly surprised
when I discovered that it's now available in Debian. I hope this issue
can be resolved. And as you seem to know .Net and Mono I would also be
very pleased if you would package PurplePen. If you need help with
packageing or a sponsor for an upload I would be glad to assist.

Well, the gateway may as well be link-local and not be in the assigned
prefix. That's unfortunately a valid configuration. I wouldn't call
fe80::1 "next router", though. It's not a well-known address. ff02::2
(all routers) would be, in a way. But alas.

I guess the answer here is that if the gateway is in fe80::/10 the route
needs to be added with the interface's name, just like pointopoint does it.

The better setup is to use autoconfiguration and let the router announce
itself. That's how most production IPv6 setups work because the standard
calls for that. But I know that especially providers like Hetzner are
notorious for requiring their users to use a hard-coded fe80::1 default
gateway. (And ifupdown supports this correctly.)

Kind regards
Philipp Kern

Bug#901257: Please consider adopting zchunk for efficient updates

2018-06-10 Thread David Kalnischkies
On Sun, Jun 10, 2018 at 07:14:55PM +0200, Michael Stapelberg wrote:
> The zchunk format, outlined in the post, is being introduced in Fedora for
> efficient metadata transfer.

As I understand it, zchunk isn't competition for pdiff (per se), but
competition for the compressed files xz/bz2/gz as files aren't only
downloaded in zchunk format but also stored in that format. So what we
(can) do at the moment with downloading the smallest files (like xz) and
store it in a format for fastest access vs. space usage like
uncompressed or lz4 compressed wouldn't be possible anymore.

It therefore also pre-depends on people and programs stopping to access
files in /var/lib/apt/lists directly, which we would like to reach some
point, but aren't there yet.

This format also depends on having random access to remote files aka
HTTP range requests – suprising as it sounds, some users in the wild
interact with servers who do not support this feature & support for
having multiple ranges in the request is another beast to implement in
both server and client. For those users the format would combine all
disadvantages – and these users happen to be the ones where download
metrics matter the most (at least in my experience).

That is entirely ignoring if that has any actual benefits as I haven't
tried it at all, which would probably be the very first step – to
actually verify that there is a point in all this.

Judging just by the text, it seems to combine all the worst aspects it
can in the worst case and seems to have only marginal benefits above
what we have¹ in the best case, but a reality check might provide
another/better view (not volunteering myself).

Best regards

David Kalnischkies

¹ which is different from Fedora both in that they have no pdiff and
that they don't keep indexes in a as central location as we do (from my
limited understanding of never actually having used yum/dnf).

Bug#901279: grub-common: update-grub overwrites /boot/grub/grub.cfg

2018-06-10 Thread Greg Alexander
Package: grub-common
Version: 2.02+dfsg1-4
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I upgraded from an old version of grub using Debian's
"apt-get install grub-pc", and it overwrote my /boot/grub/grub.cfg
without prompting me, and without making a backup copy. My old grub.cfg
was hand-crafted, simple, concise. The new one is not. I don't know if I
would be better off with the older grub.cfg, but I do know I would like
to have it for reference!

Inspecting after the fact, I believe the specific steps were:
grub-pc.postinst script ran update-grub, which then ran grub-mkconfig -o
/boot/grub/grub.cfg.

At a minimum, update-grub must make a backup copy of the original
grub.cfg.

Thanks!

Bug#895868: munin-cron: Fontconfig error: failed reading config file

2018-06-10 Thread Lars Kruse
Source: munin
Followup-For: Bug #895868

Hello,

I took a look at the bugs reported for fontconfig [1]. I did not find a
description of this problem. Maybe someone could report it there?

Since munin is likely only affected indirectly by this problem, we
should probably solve it in fontconfig, instead of here.

Or is this only a local customization / configuration issue?

Cheers,
Lars

Bug#900203: guile-2.2 FTCBFS for mipsel: In procedure load-thunk-from-memory: No such file or directory

2018-06-10 Thread Rob Browning

[If possible, please preserve the 900203-forwarded address in replies]

We're currently unable to cross-build guile 2.2 on all of the debian
release architectures, which is important given that through make, etc.,
guile's now part of the core bootstrap set for new architectures.

You can see additional information here

  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=900203

and I have been able to reproduce the failure on a debian buster
(testing) amd64 host by adding armhf as root:

  # dpkg --add-architecture armhf
  # apt build-dep -t buster guile-2.2
  # apt install -t buster \
fakeroot \
dpkg-dev \
binutils:armhf \
crossbuild-essential-armhf \
gcc-arm-linux-gnueabihf \
libc-dev:armhf
libncurses5-dev:armhf

and then building the package as not-root:

  $ apt source guile-2.2=2.2.3+1-4
  $ cd guile-2.2-2.2.3+1
  $ DEB_BUILD_PROFILES="cross nocheck" \
DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS="parallel=2 nocheck" \
fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage -B --host-arch=armhf

...which fails with the same error reported in the debian bug:

  guild compile --target="arm-unknown-linux-gnueabihf" -Wunbound-variable
-Wmacro-use-before-definition -Warity-mismatch -Wformat\
-L "/home/rlb/deb/guile/main/module" -L "/home/rlb/deb/guile/main/module"

Please let me know if I can help test anything further, and note that it
appears possible that the the architecture may be relevant, i.e. from
the debian bug:

Bug#901278: apt removing packages: Depends: xorg-video-abi-23 which is a virtual package...

2018-06-10 Thread 積丹尼 Dan Jacobson
Package: xserver-xorg-video-nvidia-legacy-304xx
Version: 304.137-5

Every day apt(itude) asks me to remove the package:

 xserver-xorg-video-nvidia-legacy-304xx : Depends: xorg-video-abi-23 which is a
virtual package, provided by:
   - xserver-xorg-core
(2:1.19.6-1), but 2:1.20.0-2 is to be installed

The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

  Remove the following packages:
1) nvidia-legacy-304xx-driver [304.137-5 (now, unstable)]
2) xserver-xorg-video-nvidia-legacy-304xx [304.137-5 (now, unstable)]

Bug#884484: python-cryptography-vectors/2.2.2-1 appears to break python-cryptography in testing

Thanks for clarifying. Just for my understanding, did you ever
considered to add these vectors (as a second tar ball in the source 3
format) to the source package of python-cryptography?

I triggered a combined test. Once that passes, autopkgtest should not
delay the packages anymore. I'll keep an eye on it. Unfortunately for
python-cryptography, the migration will not be earlier than the default
5 days, because it has to wait for -vectors, which doesn't get a reduced
age because it doesn't contain an autopkgtest. (Please don't abuse the
system and add a dummy test).

Last but not least, the woff.* and eot file are serious (at least
now). Tools to create does not yet exist (I am packaging it, Waiting
in NEWS node-microbuffer and node-svgpath, will need svg2ttf, ttf2woff
and ttf2eot)

-vectors exists purely for the benefit of the tests, nothing outside the
tests uses the vectors. If you are not running the tests, having a
mismatched version of -vectors will have no effect.

Bug#901276: jessie-pu: package lame/3.99.5+repack1-7+deb8u2

2018-06-10 Thread Hugo Lefeuvre
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
Tags: jessie
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: pu

Hi,

lame 3.99.5+repack1-7+deb8u1 is affected by several vulnerabilities in
the code used to read the input file. These issues are not present in
any Debian release after Jessie because the package switched to
libsndfile to read and write audio files. The upstream code itself was
recently fixed in 3.100.

Following advices from lame's upstream and from lame's maintainer I
proposed the attached patch. In this patch we modify the Jessie
package to use libsndfile instead of the internal code. The security
team considers these issues not worth a DSA but recommended me to
submit this patch as jessie-pu.

You can find more detailed information about this patch on the
debian-lts ML[0].

Thanks !

Regards,
 Hugo

Bug#884484: python-cryptography-vectors/2.2.2-1 appears to break python-cryptography in testing

2018-06-10 Thread Paul Gevers
Dear maintainers,

With a recent upload of python-cryptography-vectors the autopkgtest of
python-cryptography version 2.1.4-1 started to fail in testing. See:
https://ci.debian.net/packages/p/python-cryptography/testing/amd64/
and
https://qa.debian.org/excuses.php?package=python-cryptography-vectors

Looking at the error message (copied below) it seems the to packages
need to stay in lock step. In this bug (#884484) the solution was to
tighten the test dependencies, which is one way to achieve this (albeit
it will only work for the next time without the help of the RT or me),
but I wonder if this dependency is only for the test, or really needed
for python-cryptography. If the latter, to guarantee that the archive
knows, I believe some binary packages from python-cryptography-vectors
should contain a "Breaks" relation with the older version of the right
binary packages from python-cryptography instead of just test dependency
restrictions.

Currently this regression is delaying the migration of both packages to
testing by 10 days. I can help speed it up a bit if this regression is
really only a TEST dependency restriction.

Bug#901270: trickle FTCBFS: configures for the build architecture

Version: 1.07-10.1

trickle fails to cross build from source, because it configures for the
build architecture. The easiest way of fixing that is using
dh_auto_configure. After doing so trickle continues to fail due to its
use of AC_TRY_RUN. I have no fix for that to offer. Please consider
fixing the --host part anyway. The attached patch implements that.
Please close this bug when trickle passes --host to ./configure. That
will make the next failure more visible to interested cross builders.

Bug#900552: Bug #900552: Add privacy policy to the Debian website

2018-06-10 Thread Laura Arjona Reina
Hello all
I have read the document and I have some questions and comments.

1.- Once that we publish a "Privacy Policy" document in the website, if
there are changes to the text, do we need to do something "special"?
(e.g. put a banner in the site saying "we have updated our privacy
policy", or informing some mailing list...). I'd also like to know if we
need to "version" this document (in similar way as we do with the Debian
Constitution, for example: 1.0, 1.1, etc).

2.- We need to know if translations of the document need to clarify that
the translation is only informative and has no legal value and people
should look at the original English for that. We put such a note in the
translations of /trademark and /license, for example.

3.- About where it should go, my proposal is:

* Place the document under /legal/privacy.wml
* On top of the /legal/index.wml document, create a new section "Legal
information" with links to /privacy, /trademark and /license (maybe more)
* In the menu of the homepage (and the menu at the footer of every
page), in the section "About Debian", place links to "Legal info" and
"Data privacy".

I will create a branch in the webwml repo named
"bug900552-privacypolicy", and upload the privacy.wml file there.

This way we can work there (e.g. I would submit obvious fixes as
-> etc) and the document will not be shown in the Debian website,
at least until my question 1 and/or 2 are clarified.

4.- About the content of the document, I have some comments but I prefer
to send diffs as patches in separate messages, so they can discussed or
merged individually.

Thanks!

Bug#901269: radeontop FTCBFS: uses the build architecture pkg-config

2018-06-10 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: radeontop
Version: 1.0-1
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

radeontop fails to cross build from source, because the upstream
Makefile hard codes the build architecture pkg-config. After making it
substitutable, it still fails, because make install insists on
rebuilding radeontop, but dh_auto_install does not supply cross tools
(unlike dh_auto_build). This is because it expects a .git directory to
derive the version from. The embedded version for Debian builds will
always be "unknown". I didn't figure out how to fix that, but simply
passing cross tools there as well works. Please consider applying the
attached patch.

Bug#901268: libsoil FTCBFS: uses the build architecture compiler

2018-06-10 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: libsoil
Version: 1.07~20080707.dfsg-4
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

libsoil fails to cross build from source, because it does not pass cross
tools to make. Using dh_auto_build is the easiest way to fix that. Still
the alternate makefile hard codes gcc in one places. The attached patch
fixes both and makes libsoil cross build successfully. Please consider
applying it.

Bug#899384: vlc: Hardware acceleration fails after upgrade to 3.0.2

2018-06-10 Thread Antoni Marcinek
OK. So basically this means 3 possible upstreams: optirun, Qt or VLC, since
I guess this is beyond Debian.

I think you can close the issue.

Actually I managed to find a workaround that I will report at
https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=144411 as I still believe
that there is a regression in VLC 3.0.2.

Ack, thanks!
I can confirm that 0.460+ds-1 builds with 5.26 and has the same
errors as in your original report with 5.28.

For the log, please run vlc as:

vlc -vv >log.txt 2>&1

and then attach log.txt.

Sorry, I don't locate those strings - which branch of which git are you
trying out the above?

It looks correct - but works only in concert with corresponding hints in
control{.in.in} file. See e.g. git commit f31d94a (i.e. _reverse_ of
that, and adding Replaces: ${cdbs:Replaces}).

Hope that helps,
