Manually compiling 2.2.0-RC2 works fine as instructed in the INSTALL file in
the sources.
I did apt install libnftnl-dev and libmnl-dev and configured with pcp-peer,
portinuse and firewall=nftables
guestfsd: error while loading shared libraries: libtirpc.so.3: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
Did something change with how libtirpc gets packaged on Debian
or upstream?

As Jeremy pointed out, the latest release available in the archive is expected
to fix this bug (patches/001_python38-cleanup.patch is fixing this issue).
