I have my local copy of python2.4 at ~/bin/ because I need to use EGG
which is not compatible with debian's package system. While I have
changed my PATH to search the local first, ipython's hardcoded to
/usr/bin/python2.4 so I cannot test my local libs easily.

After a discussion with kernel-package maintainer, we came to the
conclusion that it's a kernel-package problem. It was trying to run
oldconfig target for the kernel in the linux-headers directory, which does
not contain enough files for this to succeed. The fixed kernel-package

I have the same problem. checkinstall segfaults with the newest coreutils
(5.93-5) installed. Version 5.2.1-2.1 works without problems. Additionally,
checkinstall sefaults on all tested applications.
