I can't reproduce this with evolution.

Bug#346464: pppconfig: [INTL:fr] French program translation

2006-01-07 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: pppconfig
Version: N/A
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch l10n

(this is a standard message, not customized for your package)

Please find attached the french translation of this package's
programs, proofread by the debian-l10n-french mailing list
contributors.

This file should be put as "fr.po" in the appropriate po/
directory. If this package is not a native Debian package, please
don't forget to forward this translation to the upstream maintainer.

Depending on the version of the build tools or the build process used
in the software, you may have to update the LINGUAS variable in the
configure scripts in case the french translation is a *new*
translation for this software/package.

Sounds like a rovclock bug, since radeonfb has it right ?

It causes spamd to abort (the "die" statements in the code). I don't
know if it will also crash under some circumstances; whatever it does,
what I observe is that spamd comes up for less than 1 second and then
dies, and then spamc just passes through all the spam I get 'cos it
can't connect to spamd. Rather nasty, 'cos by the time you explicitly
look in the log files or check with 'ps', a lot of spam could've hit
your mailserver.

Anyway, it's good to hear that it's been fixed upstream.

Bug#346463: p7zip: stdout & stderr

2006-01-07 Thread Juergen Kreileder
Package: p7zip
Version: 4.30.dfsg-1
Severity: normal

Currently errors get logged to stdout, they should get printed to stderr:

Also, please provide a quiet version which writes absolutely nothing
to stdout (and stderr) if everything is OK. The verbose output makes
it hard to replace gzip/bzip2 in existing scripts.

This is the consequence of recent upstream changes in su (shadow
package).

Nicolas François is currently investigating the packages hit by this
(unfortunately several of them).

We will try to find a way to have su keep its former behaviour if we
can but I currently don't know if we'll be able to suceed and when. I
would recommend fixing popcon for the new behaviour.

If the problem "only" happens with a package containing UTF-8
filenames, I'm not sure this deserves a serious severity but rather
"important".

Of course, I'm not minimizing the problem

After upgrading to 2.8.9-2 Nautilus has severe problems painting the
desktop on my powerpc machine (x86 is fine). The symptoms seem to be
random: sometimes it just seems to offset everything it draws upwards
by a few pixel, sometimes the display is totally garbled..

Downgrading to 2.6.10-2 fixes the problem.

Bug#346460: xserver-xorg: evdev driver broken for mice on powerpc

2006-01-07 Thread Juergen Kreileder
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-2
Severity: normal

The new evdev driver doesn't work for mice on powerpc (same config
works on x86). I've tried to use the following section:

,
| Section "InputDevice"
| Identifier "MX1000"
| Driver "evdev"
| Option "CorePointer"
| Option "Protocol" "evdev"
| Option "Device""/dev/input/mx1000"
| Option "Emulate3Buttons" "false"
| EndSection
`

where /dev/input/mx1000 is a event device renamed by this udev rule:

,
| ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="input", SYSFS{manufacturer}=="Logitech",
SYSFS{product}=="USB Receiver", NAME="input/mx1000"
`

As said, this works fine on x86 but on powerpc X dies with:

,
| (**) Option "CorePointer"
| (**) MX1000: Core Pointer
| (**) MX1000: Device: "/dev/input/mx1000"
| (WW) MX1000: Don't know how to use device
| (EE) PreInit failed for input device "MX1000"
| (II) UnloadModule: "evdev"
| (WW) No core pointer registered
`

6.8.2.dfsg.1-11 worked fine with the old evdev driver and the
configuration described at
http://blog.blackdown.de/2005/04/03/logitech-mx1000-configuration/

Bug#346459: ifupdown: post-down is not the last thing executed

2006-01-07 Thread Adam M. Costello
Package: ifupdown
Version: 0.6.7
Severity: normal

pre-up commands are the first things executed, before the *-up.d/*
scripts. But post-down commands are *not* the last things executed.
The *-down.d/* scripts are executed after the post-down commands. This
is counterintuitive, and makes it difficult to do some things that one
would expect to be easy (for example, load a wireless driver with pre-up
and unload it with post-down).

Suggested fix: Split execute_all() into two functions, maybe
execute_options() and execute_scripts(), and call them in that order in
iface_up(), and in the opposite order in iface_down().

Bug#346456: hibernate: "IncompatiblePrograms" config option not functioning correctly

2006-01-07 Thread James Hirschorn
Package: hibernate
Version: 1.12-1
Severity: important

I have the config option:

IncompatiblePrograms vmware

However, it still hibernates when vmware is running. The log is attached. I
recall this option working before, perhaps with an earlier version.

I tagged it important, because hibernating with vmware running a guest on a raw
drive can wipe out a partition (as I have done more than once), but perhaps
this is not relevant to Debian.

Thomas, I see the same behaviour with or without --disable-imake
--disable-narrowproto. The toolbar seems to appear and dissapear in its whole

and the corresponding schema:

--- test.rnc -
default namespace = ""
include "/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/nxml-mode/schema/xhtml.rnc" {
  start |= notAllowed
}

start =
   element root {
  p*
   }
--

I convert it to RNG with trang: trang test.rnc test.rng

The generated xhtml.rng file contains:

http://relaxng.org/ns/structure/1.0";>

[...]

But test.xml doesn't validate against the RNG schema:

$ xmllint --relaxng test.rng test.xml

http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml";>Para 1
http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml";>Para 2

test.xml:3: element p: Relax-NG validity error : Did not expect element p there
test.xml fails to validate

If I manually add the namespace ns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"; to
the grammar element in xhtml.rng, this is now OK:

$ xmllint --relaxng test.rng test.xml

http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml";>Para 1
http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml";>Para 2

test.xml validates

Note: /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/nxml-mode/schema/xhtml.rnc contains
at the beginning:

default namespace = "http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml";

libpthread-dev is required in FreeBSD.
What is the soname of libpthread in Hurd?

Is there a developer-accessible machine?

The following rule in d-devlibdeps needs updating so that it works on
Linux, FreeBSD and Hurd.

-e 's/libpthread0-dev//' \
-e 's/libpthread.*-dev/libpthread-dev/' \

Is there a real point in applying this change or is this just to appease

I'm not quite fond of debian-only patch myself. The idea of adding too
much heuristics to default behavior of dpatch-edit-patch isn't too
appealing to me right now.

Thanks, I think this will help. Just curious, did you change the comments
near the setting also? As you most probably know, most people don't read
docs, but reading comments next to the default configuration file, is
actually done much more often (I admit to have configured my shorewall the
first time this way, and I should know better...).

Ah, I encountered my problem indeed with a Java application, so I guess
that regardless of this setting, people will from now on be saved from this
issue too.

I guess author stop distributing on the net.

Typical redirect for lost account. psheer looks like account name of
the author.

Well, it is a copy although this web site is not by the original author.

http://rute.2038bug.com/index.html.gz
http://www.chongluo.com/books/rute/
http://linuxcourse.rutgers.edu/rute/index.html
http://www.gnoppix.org/pages/rute/ (This is now part of Ubuntsu)

All above are 2002 version 1.00 but none are really on good site I can
count on.

Seemingly old 2000 version at;
http://burks.brighton.ac.uk/burks/linux/rute/

Interesting...

Some link (for example www.tldp.org) point to
http://rute.sourceforge.net/ but there is nothing there.

There was Simon Law's ITP for Debian. OK.

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=150223

OK, now it is in Debian non-free. This should be one I should use.

Bug#346448: rosegarden does nothing but segfault

2006-01-07 Thread Florian Hars
Package: rosegarden2
Version: 2.1pl4-2
Severity: important

If I start rosegarden, and click either Notate or Sequence, I get

Rosegarden Editor: Segmentation Violation: this shouldn't happen, sorry.
Rosegarden Sequencer: Segmentation Violation: this shouldn't happen, sorry.

A debug build returned

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

(gdb) bt
#0 0x2b1c3ec3 in _XtCountVaList () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6

#3 0x0041e889 in main (argc=1, argv=0x7fa91bb8,
envp=0x7fa91bc8) at Main.c:488

which pointed to the reason: The calls to the XtVa... functions freely
mix int-sized (4) objects like 0 and pointer-sized (8) objects, and
terminate the arglists with a four byte NULL value (which will only
accitentally work in some cases).

I changed my lines 189ff in editor/src/Widget.c to
  XtVaSetValues(topBox,
XtNleft, (XtPointer) XawChainLeft,
XtNright, (XtPointer) XawChainRight,
XtNtop,(XtPointer) XawChainTop,
XtNbottom, (XtPointer) XawChainTop,
XtNhorizDistance, (XtPointer) 0,
XtNvertDistance, (XtPointer) 0,
XtNborderWidth, (XtPointer) 0,
(XtPointer) NULL);
and now the editor starts. Of course, that is just an accident until the
other XtVa... calls are fixed, but I will not do that at 3 in the
morning.

Oh, and there is a build-dependecy on xaw3dg-dev missing.

Yours, Florian Hars.

MAXPATHLEN is not defined on the GNU system, as there is no maximum path
lenght. The attached patch by Ben Asselstine fixes this. As gopher is
a Debian native package, can I assume that you are upstream as well, so
no further notification is needed?

Michael

Bug#346446: darcs-server: darcs.cgi doubles up directories in pathname, and so fails

2006-01-07 Thread Brian T. Sniffen
Package: darcs-server
Version: 1.0.2-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Consider http://www.evenmere.org/cgi-bin/darcs.cgi

It lists the one Darcs repository available there. The link goes to
http://www.evenmere.org/cgi-bin/darcs.cgi/Datalog/?c=browse

That page appears fine. But the links on it go to, for example,
http://www.evenmere.org/cgi-bin/darcs.cgi/Datalog//Datalog/Main.hs?c=patches

See the "Datalog//Datalog" bit? There's no such place. It should be
recognizing the / after the first Datalog, and so generating:
http://www.evenmere.org/cgi-bin/darcs.cgi/Datalog/Main.hs?c=patches

Interestingly, if you start out at this URL, this page works:
http://www.evenmere.org/cgi-bin/darcs.cgi/Datalog?c=browse
But if you descend to a patches page and then click back up to
the repository, it fails in the same way as before.

I looked for easy fixes in the XSLT code, but didn't find a single place
to change this.

chroot was created using cdebootstrap directly to sid. After a bit of
investigation, this seems to be reproducable by emptying or deleting
/etc/fstab, purging quota, and reinstalling. I'm not sure how to
manually invoke the postinst, tryng the following fails:
CHROOT bd:/var/lib/dpkg/info# sh -x quota.postinst configure
+ set -e
+ '[' configure = configure ']'
+ . /usr/share/debconf/confmodule
++ '[' '!' '' ']'
++ PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1
++ export PERL_DL_NONLAZY
++ exec /usr/share/debconf/frontend quota.postinst configure
Can't exec "quota.config": No such file or directory at
/usr/share/perl/5.8/IPC/Open3.pm line 168.
open2: exec of quota.config configure failed at
/usr/share/perl5/Debconf/ConfModule.pm line 56

The chroot's root filesystem is xfs, on a LVM volume, and the kernel
is linux-image-2.6.12-1-k7 2.6.12-10, if that matters.

Hi,

Thanks a lot - Yesterday I added the build-dependency and re-uploaded
the package - I'll look into using Debian's autoconf anyway, as it
will save greater pain in the long run.

Thanks!

It was added because pie allows exec shield and address randomisation,
which is a security advantage on platforms that include it.

Now, I don't know where debian stands on these issues, but that is my
understanding of the 'misfeature'.

I'd be happy with this. I'd be ecstatic about this solution if

Bug#268583: hotplug failure with shpchp and pciehp

2006-01-07 Thread Michael Gilbert
Hello,

Looks like this is indeed fixed as you suggest. The shpchp line in
/var/log/kern.log with 2.6.15 is:

Jan 7 19:49:56 localhost kernel: shpchp: Standard Hot Plug PCI
Controller Driver version: 0.4

So its working correctly. Thanks for the hard work! Peace.

2006-01-07 Thread angus

Version: 3.7-2
Severity: important

"Occupy" now shows a window painted in DefaultBackground (I guess), with a
beveled box drawn inside (same color). The cursor changes to a hand when
moved inside the window. That's all.

How to reproduce: From menu, select "Occupy", click on any window.

Desired behaviour: The correct, previous one.

Ask for screenshot or .ctwmrc if you can't reproduce.

Thanks.

Bug#344205: [PATCH] CONFIG_AIRO needs CONFIG_CRYPTO

2006-01-07 Thread dann frazier
airo.c currently has MICSUPPORT enabled, which requires CONFIG_CRYPTO.
A user reported a build failure which is due to the lack of a Kconfig

Bug#340639: Fails to upgrade: dbus start option does not exist anymore

2006-01-07 Thread Bastian Kleineidam
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

I just upgraded to dbus 0.60-4 and also get this error.
The reason is that the hal package is configured after dbus. The dbus
postinst restarts the hal layer with the new already unpacked hal
binary, but with an old /etc/default/hal config which still has the
- --drop-privileges option.

Bug#346441: Poor collision detection: gameplay suffers when frames are dropped

2006-01-07 Thread Ben Armstrong
Package: lbreakout2
Version: 2.5.2-2
Severity: normal

The collision detection in this game is very poor. When frames in
which collisions would have occurred are dropped, the game is unaware
that a collision should have happened, and so the ball appears to "pass
through" the paddle.

Stock Debian kernels don't have preempt / low latency desktop turned on.
As a result, if the system is doing *anything* at the time that you're
playing this game, frames are frequently missed. This is frustrating to
the point that I would not recommend that anyone play this game on
anything but an idle system, or one which is tuned (e.g. with preempt /
low latency desktop) so that I/O, particularly writes to IDE drives,
doesn't ruin gameplay.

Other games manage to implement proper collision detection, even when
frames are lost. If you want to significantly improve this game, please
see if you can figure out how to implement good collision detection in
LBreakout2.

Thanks,
Ben Armstrong & family

It happens rather quickly with "Title Screen" and "Pyramid" -- you can hear a

Bug#346439: apache-common needlessly depends on web-browser

2006-01-07 Thread Josip Rodin
Package: apache-common

Hi,

The bug #269009 was solved in a rather uninspiring manner - this feature of
apachectl is completely optional, making the dependency way too strict.
Please downgrade it to a Suggests:, test the www-browser executable for
existence and run if it exists, and if it doesn't print an error message.

TIA.

Bug#346438: clearsilver: package is sparse and almost completely useless

2006-01-07 Thread Wesley J. Landaker
Package: clearsilver
Version: 0.9.13-3.2
Severity: serious

The upstream clearsilver tarball includes everything that's needed to use
the clearsilver system, namely:

  1. C Libraries and Headers
  2. Commandline Utilities
  3. Language Bindings
  4. Documentation (man pages, examples, etc)

Currently, clearsilver in Debian is pretty empty. It doesn't include
any C libraries or headres (even though the clearsilver-dev package
description claims to), it doesn't include any of the useful
command-line utilities, and it doesn't include any language bindings,
except for a PARTIAL binding for python.

The binding for python only includes the CGI kit library, but not the
main utility/template library.

This makes the clearsilver package in Debian completely useless for
actually developing applications that use clearsilver, or using
clearsilver on a web site, except if you use a very small subset of
it's capability, and only use it with python.

There really isn't any excuse for this, since this is a fairly robust
template system and almost everything builds and runs perfectly with no
modifications to the upstream software under a current Debian unstable.
Not to mention there are lots of extras, like example scripts, an emacs
mode, tons of man pages, an Apache modules, and so forth. Most of these
could be installed easily with very minimal effort.

Bug#346437: dietlibc-dev: fflush(NULL) flushes input-only streams (stdin)

2006-01-07 Thread Eric Wong
Package: dietlibc-dev
Version: 0.29-8
Severity: normal

fflush(NULL) seems to flush the stdin stream, as well as any open
streams it can find, regardless of whether or not it's a writeable
stream. According to the fflush manpage, this is wrong:

If the stream argument is NULL, fflush() flushes all open
output streams.

You can see this behavior with the test program I've included below, and
then test it again by commenting out the fflush(NULL) call in it to see
the difference.

#include
#include

int main (void)
{
char buf[4096];
while (fgets(buf,4096,stdin)) {
/* this can also be fwrite/fprintf: */
write(1,buf,strlen(buf));

/* you can comment this out to compare */
fflush(NULL);
}

return 0;
}

/* EOF */

Bug#346436: [DPKG] Fails to install package with UTF-8 filenames on any UTF-8 locale

2006-01-07 Thread Konstantinos Margaritis
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.13.11.0.1
Severity: serious

I created a package to be used in Greek Debian-Edu/Skolelinux
installations, which includes many Greek (UTF-8) filenames, but dpkg fails
to install it on any UTF-8 locale I tried (el_GR, en_GB, en_US, pt_BR,
fr_FR).UTF-8. This was reproduced by others in #debian-devel channel.

When using a UTF-8 locale, dpkg falls into some kind of endless loop and
fails with a 'Cannot allocate memory' error (debug log of dpkg with when
run thus:

# dpkg -D -i
/home/markos/Debian/ancient-greek-literature/ancient-greek-literature_1.0-1_all.deb

is attached)

The package is located at:

http://people.debian.org/~markos/ancient-greek-literature/ancient-greek-literature_1.0-1_all.deb

(with accompanying sources)

Thanks

Bug#346098: xserver-xorg: EmulateWheelTimeout not working

2006-01-07 Thread Amit Gurdasani
:Package: xserver-xorg
:Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-1
:Severity: normal
:
:
:Hello,
:
:I was using the experimental packages for quite some time to get
:EmulateWheelTimeout (bug #320136 got me interested), and the
:packages worked great, incl. the EmulateWheelTimeout setting.
:
:After the change from 6.8.99.901.dfsg.1-2 to 6.8.99.902.dfsg.1-1 the
:setting stopped working (mailed a bugreport back on Nov 25th to one of
:the maintainers), hence I can't click any longer with the middle mouse
:button when using EmulateWheel on my Trackpoint device. The final 6.9
:release unfortunately didn't solve this either, still no go.
:
:The setting gets parsed just fine, value shows up correctly in
:Xorg.0.log, but the middle button does not send click events when
:checked with xev.
:
:Kind regards
:WK
:
:PS: FYI: the Emulate3Buttons is only in my config so I can circumvent
:the problem for now be using the good'ol left'n'right combo to get the
:middle click, doesn't work without it either.

I can verify this issue -- I'm using a ThinkPad A21e. With the
6.8.99.901.dfsg.1-2 package, the EmulateWheelTimeout setting is honored, and
I can use button 2 on click and scroll horizontally and vertically on drag:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Configured Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Option "CorePointer" "on"
Option "Device""/dev/input/mouse0"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5 6 7"
Option "EmulateWheelButton""2"
Option "EmulateWheel" "on"
Option "EmulateWheelTimeout" "300"
Option "YAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "XAxisMapping" "6 7"
EndSection

However, on upgrading to 6.8.99.902.dfsg.1-1 all the way up to the current
version in unstable, 6.9.0.dfsg.1-2, this setting is parsed but ignored:

(**) Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
(**) Configured Mouse: Device: "/dev/input/mouse0"
(**) Configured Mouse: Protocol: "ExplorerPS/2"
(**) Option "CorePointer" "on"
(**) Configured Mouse: Core Pointer
(**) Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse0"
(==) Configured Mouse: Emulate3Buttons, Emulate3Timeout: 50
(**) Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5 6 7"
(**) Configured Mouse: ZAxisMapping: buttons 4, 5, 6 and 7
(**) Option "EmulateWheel" "on"
(**) Option "EmulateWheelButton" "2"
(**) Option "EmulateWheelTimeout" "300"
(**) Option "XAxisMapping" "6 7"
(**) Configured Mouse: XAxisMapping: buttons 6 and 7
(**) Option "YAxisMapping" "4 5"
(**) Configured Mouse: YAxisMapping: buttons 4 and 5
(**) Configured Mouse: EmulateWheel, EmulateWheelButton: 2, EmulateWheelInertia:
 10, EmulateWheelTimeout: 300
(**) Configured Mouse: Buttons: 7

Even with ridiculously high timeouts (3 ms), the Button 2 event is never
emitted.

Currently I have downgraded to the experimental 6.8.99.901.dfsg.1-2 package
and set it to be held back:
http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2005/11/01/debian/pool/main/x/xorg-x11/
and it appears to work well for now.

Having Emulate3Buttons on is handy even when click-or-scroll allows click
events to be sent, because this eliminates the middle button drag event,
which can be useful when scrolling xterms using the scrollbar, among other
things. (Emulate3Buttons has its own drawbacks, since it eliminates the
ability to have Button 1 and 3 Down events simultaneously -- which can put a
damper on FPS gaming . . . not that that's an issue with a laptop
trackpoint, of course.)

(FYI, I didn't know about this option until today -- so far I'd been using
tp-scroll to kludge on the click-or-scroll behavior, but the native support
is so much better, hence my need to go to snapshot.debian.net for the
experimental package.)

Thanks,

Amit Gurdasani

I'm sorry to report but it didn't help. :(

This is more recent than mine 21.3.1.
I'll see if I can have access to a 21.4.1 version and if possible on Debian.

OK.
The problem you mention seems abnormal.
But I cannot localize it without beeing able to reproduce it.

Since when is this broken?

> > - Have you checked version whizzytex-xxx ?

Maybe you could try that, since I really can't reproduce the bug nor on the
current version, nor on an older version.

If whizzy-get is called with nil, this is really an error.
But, I don't see how we can get there.

Strangely, the trace does not show "whizzy-running-message" in the call
stack.

Even more strangely, I don't see how write-region called from
whizzy-filter-ouput can call back whizzy-get.

So I am a bit lost here.

May you check that

whizzy-error-string
whizzy-speed-string

are both defined and integers (resp. 27 and 28, but the value does not
matter) in the buffer.

I don't know what more I can do as long as I cannot reproduce the problem.
Maybe waiting for others to report the same error and hope for additional
information...

Didier

This bug is also present in sarge, and I'm currently being bit quite hard by
it in my own program; I do about the same thing as the W3C validator
(Perl-wise) to ensure the HTML I spit out is valid during the debugging phase
of a web application, and every single time onsgmls is only capable of reading
the first 4 kB. (Worse still, the problem doesn't show up under strace when I
test it, nor does it show up more than about 50% of the time when using grep
--line-buffered ".*" testfile.html.)

I have no idea what the resolution would be, but this should IMHO be fixed in
stable; onsgmls is rather broken as long as it can't read properly from a
line-buffered pipe. :-)

Bug#346432: [EMAIL PROTECTED] incorrectly report "notfound 345386 build9half-2" as malformated arguments

2006-01-07 Thread Martin Quinson
Package: bugs.debian.org

Hello,

here is the answer to one of the mails I have sent to the BTS robot. I'm
quite sure I get bitten by the fact that my version number does not begin by
a number.

Yeah, I know. But the policy allows it (even if it's not recommended), and
upstream wants it.

Can you please relax a bit your regexp?

Thanks, Mt.

Hi,

Happy new year!

Your proposal sounds reasonable.
I was never emotionally attached to any of the archive formats. Zip was
easier because I made both archives in one compression command.
I'll make it tar.gz.

I can't confirm this -- I've never had any trouble with the bass clipping in
SPCs with openspc, and I've listened to a lot of SPCs. The deep bass drum in
Three of Darkside from Seiken Densetsu 3 doesn't seem to clip, testing right
now, and comparing against the sound from SD3 in ZSNES.

If it is from an SNES game, you could just give me a pointer to it on

This was one of the reason why I did this way. As it was not supported
(earlier) and would not work I forced it to not compile this way.

A bit odd, yes. But it was the best I could do, because I did not want
to have a very long line in the arch list. :)

Hallo Alexander,

I tested this with several runtimes. Subclipse work with SUN JDK and

classloader bug in GNU classpath derived VMs. I'm debugging this more.

No; it crashes the entire spamd under certain circumstances (e.g. if no
network interface exists). Pretty nasty.

This has already been fixed upstream btw... don't know the bug number
off the top of my head though.

Since those packages have a build dependency on libdumb0-dev or
libaldmb0-dev, and those doesn't exist anymore, those binNMU's failed.

Bug#345241: [Pkg-octave-devel] Bug#345241: octave2.1: octave panics on start

2006-01-07 Thread Paul Kienzle

With a fresh compile of octave-2.1.72 (no patches) and
octave-forge from CVS, my debian system doesn't panic.

When I compile and run against the Debian octave 2.1.72-8
it panics on every oct-file in octave-forge. The particular
problem at startup is that dispatch.oct is called by a
number of the PKG_ADD functions.

As far as I'm concerned, this is not an octave-forge problem,
as it works fine when I build octave myself on both FC4 and
Debian unstable.

On Dec 30, 2005, at 11:24 AM, J.Rinas wrote:

This seems to be a problem in connection with the octave-forge package:

After uninstalling the current testing version
octave-forgre=2005.06.13-2

octave-2.1 started correctly on my system.

Therefore I've installed the unstable version
octave-forge=2005.06.13-4 .

And It worked for me without the anoying panic.

Therefore, it might be a good idea to add a conflict
  octave-forge <= 2005.06.13-4
to the octave2.1 packages

Bug#346429: Please update to Kannel CVS

2006-01-07 Thread Loïc Minier
Package: kannel
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hi,

Please update to Kannel CVS, 1.0 is very old, in the facts not
supported upstream, buggy on x86_64, leaks memory, and has in general a
lot of bugs now fixed in CVS.

 Kannel's CVS is at :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/cvs, module
 "gateway".

In this process, please remove the 64_mbuni dpatch and switch to
40_mbuni (attached) from Mbuni CVS. (Don't forget to update 00list.)

   Thanks,

Bug#346322: rssh runs cvs for rdist and rsync, doesn't check cvs -e

2006-01-07 Thread Russ Allbery
Upstream reports they've released a new version of rssh (2.3.2) which is
now mentioned on the rssh home page. It looks like this release should
also fix Bug#339531.

The problems in 2.3.0 sound like they were introduced in that version and
wouldn't affect previous versions (although of course previous versions
have the chroot problem fixed in 2.3.0).

Bug#192253: unzip: Can't handle large zip files

2006-01-07 Thread Santiago Vila
Please, people, stop proposing that I enable large file support by
just passing compiler flags. The patch proposed by Paul Slootman
clearly shows that it's NOT enough. There is an unknown number of
typedefs which have to be changed as well. The patch from Paul changes
several of them, but nobody knows if that's enough.

This is to tell everybody that I'm not going to compromise the stability
of the unzip package just for a very tiny minority of people who have
archives larger than 2GB.

Please try unzip 6.0 beta, which contains the code that HAS to be tested.

Reminder:

sudo apt-get install build-essential fakeroot
wget http://people.debian.org/~sanvila/unzip-beta/build
sh build
