Bug#367296: browsing downloaded .php's later from disk
* Dan Jacobson ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) wrote: Package: firefox Version: 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.2-3 Severity: minor Problem: users saves e.g., $ wget http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php to disk, then attempts $ firefox ./firmware.php But firefox, and other browsers, don't know that it is indeed just html. It's tricky though, cause it doesn't have to be. A php script could output pretty much any type of content. The user must first $ mv firmware.php firmware.html for easier browsing. I'm not sure who to blame this bug on. One could reassign this bug to /etc/mime.types, but that would only fix other browsers, not firefox. Bug#370833: New dh_python proposal

I tried my best to fill the gap. :-/ I appreciate your work, but I am not comfortable supporting two competing implementations in debhelper. Please reconsider. If you don't integrate that version now, we'll most probably do the switch to python2.4 in the next days and we'll replace dh_python calls by dh_python2 calls (integrated for example in the python package) or we'll remove call to dh_python in favor of dh_pycentral (existing and in python-central) / dh_pythonsupport (not existing but quick to create). And if we go that way, then we loose the possibility to move easily to a single unified helper tool in the future since all packages would have again to be modified to reuse dh_python. Hello Christian, yes, it is 5.0.22-2. What I tried today: purge everything that is mysql related. When finished, the user debian-sys-maint was deleted. I then installed a fresh copy of mysql-server-5.0, now it refuses to start. No wonder: the user debian-sys-maint still does not exist. Machine: i386 PC Processor: Memory: Partitions: df -Tl will do; the raw partition table is preferred Output of lspci and lspci -n: Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot worked:[O] Configure network HW: [E] Config network: [ ] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [ ] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Create file systems:[ ] Mount partitions: [ ] Install base system:[ ] Install boot loader:[ ] Reboot: [ ] Comments/Problems: I booted the computer from the CD without problems. The computer asked about language, country and keyboard, which seemed to be OK. Next came a message No kernel modules found. This probably is due to a mismatch between the kernel used by this version of the installer and the kernel version in the archive [..] When I try to continue the installation, the installer cannot detect the Realtek-8029 thernet card. Bug#372572: comixcursors: cursors appear as icons in gnome-theme-manager
package: comixcursors version: 0.4.1-3 severity: minor Hello! In Gnome's 'Theme Preferences' program I select 'Theme Details' to choose another icon set. Strangely all of the comix cursors appear in the list as available icon themes. Of course selecting one of them has no effect on the desktop icons... Thanks for fixing. ;) Nice greetings, Fabian -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#370659: auctex: preinst warning: Debconf passed unknown value
DGMS == Davide G M Salvetti [2006-6-10] DGMS I think #370659 is due to auctex configure script not being called DGMS before its emacsen install script. I need to think a bit more DGMS about the best way to solve the issue. Did another minimal chroot run: apt-get install debconf; apt-get install auctex. Results: --8---cut here---start-8--- [...] Setting up emacs21 (21.4a-6) ... emacs-install emacs21 install/auctex: Setting up for emacs21... done. update-auctex-elisp[9306]: Further output will appear in: /tmp/update-auctex-elisp.eGD4852. If that were the case, it might be solved by a Pre-Depends: debconf | debconf-2.0. Still thinking about it. Meanwhile, Frank, can you please test and confirm the analysis? -- Thanks, Davide -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#372295:
Sounds like a low-priority debconf question. In the first line, it is not a bug. Anyway, I still oppose to making the default just shut down unless you know how to handle it properly. Also, the typical use case for powersaved/kpowersave is a laptop user running KDE. No, it's not. powersaved can be run by anyone. That a matter of opinion. For example, I think, powesaved it configured best out of box. Does it? Come on... should I submit the patch? I think, noone would prevent you from writing a patch. But I also think, that we don't need graphical configuration everywhere. This is Debian, not SuSe (Again, personal opinion) Maybe a suggestion for a tradeoff Make a note into the pacakage description about the default behaviour, or into /usr/share/doc/powesaved/README.Debian and point in the description toward it Tobi -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Package: lvm2 Version: 2.02.05-1 Installing version 2.02.05-1 from the lvm2 package makes my striped VG unreadable (the other vg does well), downgrading to 2.01.04-5 fixes the problem. Hi Matthias, and thanks for the time you're spending on gcc's and python's transitions! Now that we know gcc 4.1 is going to be the default version in Etch, maybe it is time to get rid of this old bug. Here is a cpp.1 based on the help output of cpp (and on the help2man command) that may be considered as a free interim replacement until we have an exhaustive free documentation for GCC. Do you think it will help? Do you want me to work on other manpages from the --help output? I assumed that it would automatically created by the preinstall scripts. Yes it's done by the postinst script and works fine here. Can you do: export DEBIAN_SCRIPT_DEBUG=1 and then reinstall or at least do a dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.0 and save the output using script or similar? How do I create this user manually as a workaround? What groups does it belong to? The reconfigure does this. I'm happy to include any patches before that, if you are volunteering ;-) Some things are already prepared in the packaging. Mohammed, thanks for your help. It's certainly valueable to have manual pages in main. If you do want to go this way, we need replacements for _all_ manual pages. The second thing is to remove the gfdl'd texi files from the sources, so that the package still builds. The idea is to replace these files with dummy content, such that the build still succeds and the Makefile don't have to be patched. The files in question are in: gcc/doc/* gcc/doc/include/* gcc/gfortran/gfortran.texi gcc/java/gcj.texi gcc/ada/gnat-style.texi gcc/ada/gnat_rm.texi gcc/ada/gnat_ugn.texi gcc/fortran/invoke.texi gcc/fortran/intrinsic.texi gcc/fortran/gfortran.texi gcc/treelang/treelang.texi libstdc++-v3/docs/html/17_intro/porting.texi libiberty/*.texi Most of the files in gcc/doc/, gcc/doc/include/, libiberty/ can be replaced by en empty file (or better having just a comment). The man pages are generated from some texi files, so there must be some infrastructure kept (see gcc/java/gcj.texi to start with the worst one). Of course you could write your new manual pages as texi documents as well. A patch should be a tarball of all these new files. Matthias

Bug#372577: python-json: py2.3.egg-info directory is installed into /var/lib/python-support/python2.4
Package: python-json Version: 3.4-1 Severity: normal Installing python-json causes the directory /var/lib/python-support/python2.4/json_py-3.4-py2.3.egg-info to be created. Note the mismatch between python versions in the containing directory, and the egg-info name. This creates issues for the use of json-py under Python 2.4. Whilst pkg_resources.require() tolerates this, and still finds the json-py egg, setuptools' easy_install does *not* find it, because it performs filtering based on Python version declared in egg filenames. The elementtree, kid, and python-cherrypy packages rename the egg-info directory to remove the -py2.X tag, avoiding this problem. -- System Information: ii python-support0.2.2 automated rebuilding support for p -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#372581: libgnomevfs2-common [libvfolder-desktop]: keywords in comment break *.desktop parser
Package: libgnomevfs2-common Version: 2.8.4-4 Severity: normal Tags: patch Hi! This is probably sarge-only, see below. If you take a *.desktop file and put the 'Categories' keyword into a comment *before* the real 'Categories' keyword, this program disappears from the GNOME menu.
