Bug#319951: Not sure that #319951 is still here
tags 319951 unreproducible thanks Hello, I've just taken ttf-farsiweb over and while cleaning out the bug log, I went on this one. Actually, installing ttf-farsiweb results in : Dépaquetage de ttf-farsiweb (à partir de .../ttf-farsiweb_0.4-3_all.deb) ... Paramétrage de ttf-farsiweb (0.4-3) ... Use of uninitialized value in print at /var/lib/defoma/scripts/gs.defoma line 108. .../... (a lot of these) but that's alland it seems harmless. I'm not sure that this is what you reported. I'm even inclined to think that these problems are more problems in defoma than problems in the package itself. Indeed the same messages show up when I purge/install *other* font packages such as ttf-arabeyes. Could you please purge/install the package again and see whether the problems -- signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#190421: need letterdj support in libpaper1
Re: Petter Reinholdtsen 2004-10-24 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Anyway, the letterdj format seem to be identical to the letter format, and the only difference is where on the paper the printout is printed. The current libpaper only support the size between the outer edges of the paper, so for libpaper letter and letterdj seem to be identical. Why do you need letterdj listed as a legal paper by libpaper? I suspect your problem need to be addressed in the printing application, not in libpaper. I suggest to close this bug. Bug#376103: subversion: svn doesn't report modified file when timestamp has not changed
I think the problem can also be visible with a script that does a commit on a file with a keyword and modifies the file just after, at least on fast machines. Indeed, since there is a keyword, the file will be modified by svn just after the commit, and the script may modify the file in the same second. However, looking at ctime won't solve the problem (depending on the OS and the FS, there *can* be other fields that give more precise timestamps, I don't know if APR can provide them when they exist, but it should). Something like that: $ echo '$Rev$' file $ svn add file $ svn ps svn:keywords Rev file $ svn ci -m 'first commit' file; echo foo file But I can't produce the problem on my machine, perhaps because svn is too slow or because it introduces a 1-second delay to avoid the above problem. -- Vincent Lefèvre [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Web: http://www.vinc17.org/ 100% accessible validated (X)HTML - Blog: http://www.vinc17.org/blog/ Work: CR INRIA - computer arithmetic / SPACES project at LORIA

Bug#376352: beep-media-player: not playing local mp3 passed thru command line argument.
Package: beep-media-player Version: 0.9.7.1+cvs20050803-1.1+b1 Severity: important beep-media-player not plays mp3, even web streamming medias too. to play local files, I must open those tru open dialog(Ctrl+O). if I do type like : beep-media-player http://homi.saycast.com/listen.pls or do like : click/launching by firefox location bar from the web's .pls streams. it floats on my desktop, but nothing else happens. it just hangs. and launching again makes more threads (probably zombies) . deleting ~/.bmp is not a good solution. if it plays streamming format perfectly, because probably the streams has remained before this bugs get started. then if you do `rm ~/.bmp` launching beep-media-player will not play the streams. :( -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16.14-060516 Locale: LANG=ko_KR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ko_KR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to ko_KR.UTF-8) Versions of packages beep-media-player depends on: ii libasound2 1.0.11-4 ALSA library ii libatk1.0-01.11.4-2 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libaudiofile0 0.2.6-6 Open-source version of SGI's audio ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.0.4-2 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libesd00.2.36-3 Enlightened Sound Daemon - Shared ii libfontconfig1 2.3.2-7 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.2.1-2 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libglade2-01:2.5.1-2+b1 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.10.3-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-02.8.18-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libid3-3.8.3c2a3.8.3-5 Library for manipulating ID3v1 and ii libogg01.1.3-2 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libpango1.0-0 1.12.3-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-5.1 PNG library - runtime ii libstdc++6 4.1.1-5 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libvorbis0a1.1.2-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile3 1.1.2-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libx11-6 2:1.0.0-6 X11 client-side library ii libxcursor11.1.5.2-5 X cursor management library ii libxext6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxfixes3 1:3.0.1.2-4 X11 miscellaneous 'fixes' extensio ii libxi6 1:1.0.0-5 X11 Input extension library ii libxinerama1 1:1.0.1-4 X11 Xinerama extension library ii libxml22.6.26.dfsg-2 GNOME XML library ii libxrandr2 2:1.1.0.2-4 X11 RandR extension library ii libxrender11:0.9.0.2-4 X Rendering Extension client libra ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-12compression library - runtime beep-media-player recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Hello submitters of this bug#347522, could you replace /usr/lib/cups/backend-available/usb by one of http://kmuto.jp/tmp/usb.tar.gz and see error_log with debug option when you send a print data? Because I added DEBIAN (kmuto) to debug line, You can find it easily. It reports status number, error number and message of ioctl. Details: 1. As you know, usb backend from CUPS 1.2 checks printer status before sending data. This is done by using ioctl(LPGETSTATUS) API. 2. I noticed usb-unix.c had a wrong logic. When ioctl is failed by some reasons (fatal or not), usb backend always report Printer fault!. I believe it is fixed by modified backend I mentioned above. 3. For Felipe and Jose, status=10(HEX) means printer looks off-line. Can you see any more messages in dmesg or syslog? 4. For Norbert, status=0 means success, so I think your problem can be solved. Although lkml thread is bit old story and CUPS has already fixed this issue, I got a hint and knowledge from this. Thanks a lot. Bug#376360: Build-Dep on mozilla (library), please transition to xulrunner
Package: democracyplayer Severity: wishlist Heya, It looks like your package depends on a mozilla library. As upstream declared mozilla to be dead and moved all functionality that is needed to embed gecko and friends to a new software suite (xulrunner), you should update your package to work with those. At the moment, it looks like we don't want to release etch with mozilla [1]. This means that your package needs to update it's build-dependencies to the new packages provided by xulrunner. The interface shouldn't have changed, so looking at this mapping, changing the packaging a bit and doing a test-build should be enough: libnspr-dev - libnspr4-dev libnspr4- libnspr4-0d libnss-dev - libnss3-dev libnss3 - libnss3-0d mozilla-dev - libxul-dev (probably, you may need to change include pathes) Maybe you've been lucky and upstream already transitioned to use the xulrunner environment. Marc Footnotes: [1] Mozilla security maintenance isn't easy anyway, but releasing it and with that promising security support *after* it was declared dead by upstream would be insane. So we don't want to do that. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#319951: Not sure that #319951 is still here
Christian Perrier wrote: I've just taken ttf-farsiweb over and while cleaning out the bug log, I went on this one. Actually, installing ttf-farsiweb results in: [Use of uninitialized value in print] but that's alland it seems harmless. I'm not sure that this is what you reported. I'm even inclined to think that these problems are more problems in defoma than problems in the package itself. Indeed the same messages show up when I purge/install *other* font packages such as ttf-arabeyes. See bug 267433 (same bug in ttf-arabeyes) and bug 318854 (same bug in ttf-{bengali,devanagari,gujarati,punjabi,tamil}-fonts)... The other font packages have taken the approach of removing the spaces from the font names in the .hints file. I think you should either do the same or find some definite defoma documentation that says it's OK to have spaces (in which case it is a defoma bug because it doesn't work, perhaps a bug that has been fixed in unstable?) See also bug 134593 (wishlist against defoma suggesting that it support spaces). I think the 'uninitialized value' stuff is probably bug 325598 in defoma, and not related. Bug#375922: [Pkg-texlive-maint] Bug#375922: Install several texlive-packages, and watch updmap-sys run over and over
Dear Helge! On Don, 29 Jun 2006, Helge Hafting wrote: I noticed that when installing several texlive packages, (dist-upgrade, or first-time install) then the rather slow updmap-sys runs over and over and over. It runs for every package that might need it. This alone make dist-upgrade noticeably slower. Well known problem. We are discussing this on the tetex maint list since some time, but since there is no general hook command in dpkg there is no good solution, which also ensures that a breakage is attributed to the right package. Contrast this to how update-menus works. update-menus is postponed until everything is installed, then it runs once. Hmmm, I will take a look at that. Even more sad: uninstalling all of texlive runs updmap-sys and mktexlsr for quite a few of the packages as they go, and the Well, if you only uninstall one package it is not useless. It all depends on the end of the dpkg run hook stuff. Bug#376366: file-rc 0.8.8 breaks system boot
Package: file-rc Version: 0.8.7 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system Hi, last night I upgraded file-rc to 0.8.8 before shutting down the pc. And this morning when it tried to boot somehow the init scripts weren't run properly. I landed on a login-prompt, while a display manager should've come up. After logging in, all that is mounted is /, no /usr, no /var nothing else. I rebooted into single user mode and it seemed that no init-scripts were run, i.e. not even udev. I again had only / mounted and had no way of even activating my LVM volumes (I don't have the error messages from that at hand). After reinstalling 0.8.7 everythings fine again. Bug#376372: xfce4 leaks memory like crazy
Package: xfce4 Version: 4.2.3 Hi, i just had the unpleasant experience of the OOM killer kicking in and killing apps at random. A look at htop output provided me with the information that xfdesktop had three processes at more than 250megs resident each. I had a vnc session running with xfce in it for days [maybe a week or so] now. So it seems to me xfce likes to leak memory like crazy. Thus I killed the whole vnc session [and xfce in it of course] and that freed over 700 megs of ram [i have a gig ram in the box, so 700mb is a notable chunk of that]. The xfce session was sitting idly for most of the time. So i don't know what exact action triggered the memory leak in xfce. Right, but it might be a sufficient hint so that aptitude, and maybe apt, will do the right thing. Ok... I'll lower the priority of the note to medium and add the xserver-xfree86 dummy package. Hopefully that'll be sufficient. As discussed elsewhere, I'd prefer to use NEWS.Debian, but it won't be shown to the user in this case, so a medium priority debconf abusing note should suffice. - David Nusinow -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#376320: Problem found?
I think I found the problem, the docs, changelogs and man's are installed by dh_* helpers in build-indep which according to [1] has not been run. That's because the buildd is trying to build only arch-specific packages, as stated in [1]: dpkg-genchanges: arch-specific upload - not including arch-independent packages You should probably re-read [2], since AIUI binary-indep target is to create *packages* with arch: all, in other words arch-indep, but not to make steps of the build that are arch-indep. Package: libsql-translator-perl Version: 1.023-2 Severity: wishlist Hello, could you please depend on libgd-gd2-noxpm-perl | libgd-gd2-perl instead of just depending on libgd-gd2-perl unless you really depend on the xpm-support in libgd. On smaller systems or systems without X11 this would help to get rid of the X11-stuff that libgd-gd2-perl (or to be more precise libgd2-xpm) depends on. If you don't know how to do it, please have a look at the libgd-text-perl or libauthen-captcha-perl package. They do the same. As far as I can see, it should be sufficient to just build-depend on `libgd-gd2-noxpm-perl | libgd-gd2-perl' and to build the package with libgd-gd2-noxpm-perl installed. Bug#376374: libxul0d: latest version dropped a symbol ?

Package: libxul0d Version: 1.8.0.4-1 Severity: normal Hi all, after upgrading libxul0d, libnspr4-0d and libnss3-0d to version 1.8.0.4-1 (unstable), galeon (2.0.1-3) spits out the following on startup: galeon: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libxul.so.0d: undefined symbol: JS_SetGCParameter This might be an oversight while getting the new sources (i guess this particular upstream will never make up their mind :-)), but if it is intentional, please bump soname. (However, considering libxul's situation, i'd also be happy with a galeon rebuild and versioned conflict too) :-) libmozj0d introduced a new symbol, the dependency on it for libxul0d should be tighter. Upgrade your libmozjs0d package to the latest and the problem will disappear. Thanks for your report, Mike -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#376320: Problem found?

That's because the buildd is trying to build only arch-specific packages, as stated in [1]: dpkg-genchanges: arch-specific upload - not including arch-independent packages You should probably re-read [2], since AIUI binary-indep target is to create *packages* with arch: all, in other words arch-indep, but not to make steps of the build that are arch-indep. Yes, i know, and i don't understand why i've made my package this way. This will be fixed this evening. -- Today's weirdness is tomorrow's reason why. -- Hunter S. Thompson
Bug#376376: libjpeg-progs: exifautotran doesn't rotate the thumbnail
Package: libjpeg-progs Version: 6b-13 Severity: normal exifautotran doesn't rotate the thumbnail (although it doesn't claim to). This means that intelligent programs that use the thumbnail will show a picture inconsistent with the rotated main picture. There's no need to fix this bug, as exiftran already performs the correct transformation (using exiftran -ai); I suggest simply moving exifautotran to /usr/share/doc/libjpeg-progs/. The only extra dependency that exiftran has is on libexif12; expert users who can't use it for some reason can always dig out exifautotran, or use the underlying programs directly. The reason I suggest removing exifautotran rather than just leaving it is that it confused me because I used it thinking it worked fully and correctly, and only later did I discover my error, having already used it on a large number of pictures, whose thumbnails I then had to correct using exiftran. (If it did work properly, then leaving it as an alternative would be fine.) -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16 Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages libjpeg-progs depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libjpeg62 6b-13 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG libjpeg-progs recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
