nfs-common doesn't really do this kind of thing, initscripts
This bug has been closed upstream, as this was me misunderstanding a feature,

Just reporting that on my amd64 sid (64bit kernel + 64bit userland) the
number of bytes sent and received doesn't show up the same when using
ifconfig / ip(route2) eigther.
